When we did buy our house, my dad was pretty admant about getting a home inspection and doing it RIGHT.

Bro. goes and signs papers on this house WITHOUT a home inspection. he was TOO CHEAP to pay for it, and he actually told my husband that he didn't want to fork over the $300 for one. Okay, so $300 is going to be pretty cheap when your roof is leaking and the inspection would have found it and the seller would have had to fix it for you.

Argh.

I guess it will be a "live and learn" situation for him, but not when mommy and daddy have to fork out $$$ to fix his house.

She's aware of what's going on, etc. She doesn't make as much $$$ as him, so parhaps she's just using him to get her credit back on track and all of that? Maybe we should feel sorry for him for having a GF that's just using him to get back on her feet?

I guess I don't have much pity for people who KNOW what they are getting themselves into, and have the ability and the choices to say NO. She knows how he gets treated by the family, she knows that they are making these financial choices together, etc. It would be like me complaining about some of my husband's past choices; I have known about them all along, and married him anyways, so don't feel sorry for me. I am in my own bed because I made it that way.

I also told her to not wait around and put her life on hold for someone who might or might not want to marry her someday. She has a "timeline" of when she'd like things to happen for her; kids, etc...and if he doesn't fit that timeline, then she shouldn't wait around.
Oh, M2LR, I just meant that, based on what you and others have said on this thread, this woman sounds like she may have a rough ride ahead of her in this relationship. You are right, she is an adult and probably knows a lot of this already, but I still think it's sad to see someone heading towards a disaster.

I am sure that she has a rough time ahead of her, and that's also why I told her not to wait around for him.

Is this chick older or younger than GP?
So. Spent the day with my GP brother, our mom and my husband - went to the Cardinals game. I now remember why I always refuse to just take one car when we go places. I can stand my brother for about 2 hours then I'm ready to beat him. And my mom? OF COURSE SHE MAKES EXCUSES FOR HIM BEING AN ASS. And she tells me to quit annoying him.

God almighty. I love my mother...but how in God's holy name can she be so ****ing BLIND when it comes to my brother?

And it never ends. We just finished supper. I didn't even eat because I was full of ballpark food. Mom reheated some leftovers, so fine. However, when supper was over, my brother pushed back from the table and went upstairs to his bedroom. My mom asked me to clear the table.

I know this sounds like I'm being a ***** and that I'm picking nits but it's like this all the time - my mother basically is my brother's maid. And my mother lets his lazy ass get away with it.

Would YOU be able to let your 76 year old mother wait on you hand and foot?! While you screwed around on the 'net or watched tv? Oh, and don't forget that you don't even have a job and you're not in school. Could you let your mother do all that and just sit idly by?! I have no idea how he lives with himself.

And if I say something about it to Mom she leaps to his defense.

There are also a couple of other things about her that play into this, and I think it's just a case of classic self esteem. She used to be VERY over weight. She's tall, too, and while now she's not over weight, she's still a big girl. My bro is also her first boyfriend. When we all first met her, she was VERY shy. She's still going to a JC, and doesn't really know what she wants to do when she "grows up." So, I think that a lot plays into it here.

Gotta good story to share, but will later when I have more time...*shakes head*

Interesting J~
It's become obvious to me that it will NEVER end, and that I need to just suck it up. Of course I've decided to do that before, and I'm fine with it...until I come home and see it again.

About 3 Thankskgivings ago [which is about the time, 3 mos prior, we found out GP had gotten divorced, but he never told anyone!] Anyway, I digress...

So, he was a real ass that TG & when I said something to my mom, she was all...oh, I didn't notice...I'm like wtf...even tho you were in the kitchen, you didn't hear GP mouthing off & acting like a jerk while most of use were gathered in the den?! c'mon...gimmie a frickin' break...

Thank goodness I had no prob standing up to GP & my cuz was even supportive of me...needless to say, he was acting an ass & I was thisclose to telling him, I'd be a jerk if I was married to itch as well..but of course always take the high road...argh..

I will never get the overlooking part & of course now he seems depressed b/c apparently itch has him by the balls, even now & here goes to feeling sorry for him *sigh*...ay yi yi...even tho mom says...well, he has to handle it, he got himself into it...

Now there is tons I'm leaving out, but hopefully you get the point...
I completely get the point, esp. about your mom saying, "Well, he got himself into it, he has to handle it..." Uh huh. Ok, Mom. My mom does that too.

My brother's the GP. Mum never made him do the cooking, cleaning, ironing or any basic stuff you have to learn to do throughout life. And now mum wonders why everyone has to clean up after him. I've told her it's because she never made him do any of the cleaning etc and mum says 'I know I should have done that' and everything carries on as it is while nothing changes. God-forbid anyone gets annoys with the GP for not tidying up because mum goes nuts with you. Can't win.
Fat does not make you fat. It's actually pretty important.
