Who's Your Favorite TV Dad?

I'd have to say mine is Cliff Huxtable. He is so hilarious and he really cares about his wife and kids.

Caleb Nichols (The OC)
He's a great dad

Portae 03-12-2005 08:17 AM

Other: Dan Connor (John Goodman) from Roseanne.

I voted Cliff but I also like Ward from Leave it to Beaver.

NetG 03-12-2005 08:31 AM

Definitely Cliff.

The Cosby Show and The Wonder Years are the only tv shows I remember sitting down with my family and watching as a family, and I always wanted my dad to be that cool and funny. (Now that I'm older, I realize he is in his own way!)

Voted Phillip Banks.
Dad from Step by Step is a close second.

My favorite TV dad isn't here -- Jim Anderson (Robert Young) from the old "Father Knows Best" show. He was kind of goofy but seemed like a gentle and loving dad. I was kind of scared of Ward Cleaver!

Actually I just want to get closer to Bud . . . .

mandyv 03-12-2005 06:02 PM

mine neither, fig jam. Mine is Eddie's father (Bill Bixby) in The Courtship of Eddie's Father, but of those listed, definitely Andy Griffith. Love his downhome common sense and laid back attitude and he didn't pretend to be perfect and he dated women. Just like my dad.

fig jam 03-12-2005 06:35 PM

Not to mention Bill Bixby was kind of hot! I'd forgotten about him. (Wait, "hot" and "dad" . . . not the mix we're looking for! Sorry!)

mandyv 03-12-2005 06:39 PM

Yeah, I did have a crush on him. Andy too. :)

Uncle Bill from Family Affair, the bachelor uncle with a soft heart who took in his brother's three orphaned children. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y25/ImALib/swoon.gif

Charles Ingalls or ward clever

Cricket 03-13-2005 10:01 AM

I voted other:
I always wanted to be one of the Waltons, so I would vote for John Walton, my second pick would be Charles Ingalls from Little House..

TinkerBell_182 03-13-2005 11:40 AM

I voted for Cliff. I was going to say Phil from Fresh Prince or Danny from Full House, but Bob Saget hit on my cousin's girlfriend (who is 20 and looks even younger) when he was really smashed and I just can't think of him the same now. Ewww.

I love Mr. Huxtable: I always thought he'd be a cool dad to have in real life. :)
