Default When do you work out?

I need to redo my workout schedule and am taking a poll.

If you work out, how many days a week do you generally work out and for how long? Do you feel it's enough for you? TIA

Since my work schedule was previously shift work, I would usually work out during the day, whenever it fit in. With my new job it will be the typical 9-5, and when it was before, I would work out in the evenings.
I usually work out 5 times a week (Mon-Fri), sometimes six if I'm feeling energetic. I usually do about 45min-1hour working out off of a video tape, then I'll do about 20 minutes of my own thing. I feel like this is enough for me. I also will switch it up. I have the Power90 DVD which is mainly cardio, then I have a Pilates tape, so I alternate every second day. This helps, because I don't think I could do the same thing everyday.
I also like the idea of working out at home vs. a gym. I just feel like when I go to the gym I'm taking out too much time and feel like I have to really plan around it. At home, it's more convenient. That's definitely all about personal preference, though.

In the morning usually, during baby's nap. I either go for a run or do 60 minutes on the elliptical. I try to take 1 day off, but usually I don't.

I started a thread about working out at night, not too long ago. It definitely worked for me (I was worried about having trouble falling asleep at night) but I found a way to do it in the mornings. I really like getting it out of the way.

If I did work, I'd most likely work out before work. I remember just being drained at the end of the day.

if i had a 9-5, i'd do it early morning before work.

since i work night shifts i usually end up at the gym early morning (7-8ish) or around lunch time. i really like the hours between 11 and 3 because it's not as crowded....well at least compared to 7 or 8 AM and after 5!

I run in the morning before work, I tried to be on a schedule of running 2 days and taking 1 day off, but it doesn't work out so well so I try to run at least 3 times a week for 40 minutes. And at night I try to get in swimming and weight training a few times a week.

I never, ever thought I'd be able to work out in the a.m. before work because I am NOT a morning person. But...my husband needed to start working out again and he hates working out after work, so we made a pact that we'd work out in the mornings before work 3 days a week.

So...I get up at 5 MWF and go to Jazzercise from 5:30 - 6:30 while he goes to the gym from 5:30 - 6:30 a.m. I'd never be able to do it for myself so I tell myself I'm doing it for my husband and somehow that helps.

I also feel fantastic after working out in the morning...until about 2:30 when I desperately need a nap. AND working out in the morning gives me an excuse to sit on my butt all evening.

Unfortunately I'm subject to the yoga schedules around town so it's either a 6am class or a 6pm class. Now that it is warmer and the sun is up earlier it's easier for me to feel warmed up before taking a 6am class. In the winter, I dont even bother or I'll have to get up extra early to warm up and wake up on my own. I know it's just an ego thing because I'm more flexible in the evening and can do more. Eventually I'll have to get over that.

For the last 4 months I've been practicing 5-6x a week 90 to 120 min at a time depending on how I feel. I dont count the 30 to 60 min romp in the park with the puppers as exercise.

I know if I want to get in the shape and weight that I want, I'll need to add in more time and varied exercise, but I just don't feel motivated. bleh.

Morning is better... it raises your metabolism for the day. I do morning and evening.

I go after work. I take classes usually, so it doesn't matter that the gym is busy then. I would LOVE to workout in the morning. It just doesn't happen, though. I've tried SO many times!

I'm usually pretty tired at the end of the day, but the workout makes me feel SO much better.

It really helps to have a husband who gets up with you! When I was single? NO WAY.

My current schedule I work out in the evenings except for Saturday mornings and Sunday usu midday or if I have evening plans (then I try to drag my butt to the gym in the early morning, 6 am).

Mon-60 min cardio
Tues-90 min bikram yoga class
Wed-rest
Thurs-45-60 min cardio, 20-30 min of weights
Fri-60 min cardio
Sat am-90 bikram yoga class
Sun-60 min cardio, 20-30 min weights

Cardio has been elliptical of late but I'll probably start running outside again soon.

I have a hard time adjusting to a new schedule. Once I do, I try to stick to it. I'm a SAHM. Before my daughter started school, we went 4-5 afternoons a week. Yay! She loved the child care room, and sometimes I'd take her swimming at the indoor pool after.

Once she started school, it took me over a month to start going in the mornings consistently. She's too tired to go after school (full-day kindergarten), but I was so thrilled with having days to myself I felt like I was "wasting" valuable time working out and not getting home till late morning.

I've adjusted now, just in time for summer vacation.

I would love to run in the mornings, but I am just way too lazy to roll my butt out of bed! I usually go of the evening.
