I was thinking she meant ..

Religious - an established, recognized religion. ie christianity, islam, judiasm etc

Spiritual - the belief that a higher power exists but not following an established doctrine.

I think I am (or at least really, really strive to be) more Biblical. I suscribe to some customs which are religious if they coincide with Biblical teachings (my understanding of Biblical teachings as a whole - not people who take certain Scriptures out of context).

I believe in fellowshipping with a body of believers - I do this at a church, and I don't really care about the denomination. I care about whether or not the Word is brought forth. All of the customs that come out of different denominations are "religious," I guess, but I don't let it bother me if there are a few theological issues I have with some of the customs. I let my opinion (Scripturally-based, of course) be known, then relax. There is no perfect person, there will be no perfect church.

I am spiritual in that I believe the Holy Spirit dwells in me, and that I have direct access to God through Jesus Christ. I read the Word on my own, pray on my own, try to live pleasing to God on my own, and basically do everything individually that I would do in a church setting.
People rise to the standard expected of them. GC
Oh. The Christian definition of spirituality is very different and that's the one I follow.

Sorry! I was going with the definition - concerned with or affecting the spirit or soul, concerned with sacred matters or religion or the church

Now do you see why it was hard for me to seperate the two?
I was thinking she meant ..

Religious - an established, recognized religion. ie christianity, muslim, judiasm etc

Spiritual - the belief that a higher power exists but not following an established doctrine.

I believe you need both about equally to be a Christian.

I hope that made sense
and in a way, when it comes down to it, it is about actions. If you feed a hungry person in the name of Christ, is it a religious act because you are following the Bible and what your priest/pastor/minister/Pope said, or is it a spiritual act because it comes out of prayer and a personal belief in the sanctity of life/people made in the image of God, etc? It is both... and this is why I can't separate the two.

Amneris -

Do you think what we are trying to describe comes down to this:

Spirtuality comes from within ourselves and Religion is from without (as you said: "Bible and what your priest/pastor/minister/Pope")
I was thinking she meant ..

Religious - an established, recognized religion. ie christianity, islam, judiasm etc

Spiritual - the belief that a higher power exists but not following an established doctrine.
