The Wedding Night

I'm just musing about this topic. Historically, the wedding night is first time that a couple has sex. Granted, this is more part of history than fact nowadays. But wedding days can be pretty tiring and nerve wracking. So I was thinking about wedding night sex and just how many people really do have it and if so, why.

Most couples have had pre-marital sex so wedding night sex is not quite as ground breaking as it would be for virgins. Given this and the fact that the wedding day can take a toll if you had sex that night was if because you really wanted to or felt you "had" to because that's what you do on wedding nights or did you just go to sleep. Did you instead have morning after wedding day sex?

Where did you spend your wedding night? in a hotel or in your home?

Did you go on a honeymoon? if so when did you leave, right after the wedding or the next day. if you left right after the wedding did you still get it on after all that travel or did you wait?

I guess I'm wondering if nowadays if actually having sex on your wedding night is all that prevalent.

DH and I lived together so we abstained for about 2 months before the wedding.

We stayed at a Bread and Breakfast. It was really romantic. It was up on the middle of the Black Hills of SD. I remember getting back from the reception at about 1 am and sitting in the hot tub outside on the deck of our cabin. It was awesome.

No, we didn't go on a honeymoon.

we stayed in a hotel. and no we didnt have sex. i was six months pregnant and exhausted

My friend didn't have sex her wedding night either. Too tired from the festivities. I seriously think that our sex drive is abnormal and we need counseling. Our wedding reception ended at a little before 3 am and we had a flight at 7 am and we STILL went at it. Needless to say, we only slept an hour.

we did and had a great time at it. We spent our wedding night at a very nice hotel since our flight for the honeymoon was the following day at 5pm. Even though we arrived at the hotel around midnight we also lounged in the hot tub on the balcony then adjourned to the room for our festivities.

We didn't have sex because we were up all night from the reception and to catch a 6:00 am flight to our honeymoon.
We were exhausted, we had sex the next night though and it was wonderful

DH and I did not have sex on our wedding night. We stayed at a hotel near the airport and got all of 3 hours of sleep before we had to jump on a plane.

No fear though, we have more than made up for it in the seven years that we have been married.

I have a friend who got married in May, they were both virgins, and they didn't have sex their wedding night. They were exhausted by the time they got to their hotel from the reception, and they had to be at the airport at 7 am the next morning. They figured they had waited 21 years, why not wait one more night when they both weren't dead tired and could enjoy it more!

We did. Our reception was in a hotel and we just stayed there. All of our friends stayed too so we bounced around from room to room for awhile, went back to our room and cracked open champagne at about 4 a.m., opened ALL of our cards, had sex, took showers and the limo picked us up around 6:30 a.m. and took us to the airport - so we didn't sleep a wink.

We went on a cruise for our honeymoon and I slept the WHOLE way from Chicago to Puerto Rico. Woke up in PR and had the best week of my life!

We did, but it really was just a quicky so we could say we had sex on our wedding night. I was so tired, we got to bed about 3:00 am and had to get up at 5:00am to go to the airport. I was fine until we landed on St. Lucia, then I hit a brick wall. Our first night there I just passed out.

5 months preggo and at my parents house where we were on vacation. No sex, also exhausted.

We stayed at a hotel near the reception, which was about 2hours from our house, on our wedding night. We did have sex. We were exhausted, but also far too overwhelmed and excited to sleep right away. We'd been living together so it was not our first time having sex, but it was a way for the two of us to connect after a long day filled with lots and lots of people.
The next day we drove home, picked up our luggage and grabbed a cab to the airport. Our honeymoon was in the Netherlands and Belgium.

DH and I got married in a church right on the campus of Boston College in Cambridge and since funds were tight and we were moving here to MD that next week we honeymooned in Boston for the weekend at a really nice hotel in the Fanueil Hall area and went on a carriage ride it was really romantic!

We got to our hotel round midnight thanks to my uncle who drove us there. We spent the next 2 hours talking, opening envelopes, and him taking the 100+ bobby pins out of my hair!!!

....

Sex? Yes!! in the AM though!!

Thank god DH doesn't read the boards that often he'd kill me if I he knew what I share on here sometimes

we were virgins, and we did get it on that night - we were exhausted, but too high on adrenaline to sleep. We probably didn't leave our reception till around 1 because it was so much fun and there were so many out-of-towners we wanted to see. Then undoing the dress, the hair etc. took some time, then we had some hot tub time and then my husband left it up to me if I felt up to it. I was like "Duh!" and so we did. Went to sleep really late, like after 4, and then had to get up to go to mass with the family and to wedding brunch etc. That night I slept about 16 hours.

We weren't virgins and we lived together once we got engaged. On our wedding day we returned back to our house after the reception about 7:30pm. We had champagne, candles... and yes sex.

We were tired from the whole day, and had to get up at 3:30 AM for the limo to take us to the airport to catch our 6AM flight to Mexico (and we were both sick) but wanted to do the deed now that we were legal

Thats very sweet! I bet it was a much better experience as well, waiting till they were rested and ready to go

We were dating for 5 years before we got married and we had premarital sex but then abstained for one whole year before the wedding night.

We had an afternoon wedding so we had all evening and night to get busy! And we were in a B&B for that night and several nights after. No honeymoon.
