Spinoff Poll: If you are sexually active, which BC method?
Just curious as to what method works best for you at present.

We were doing a combo of natural family planning and condoms.
I had been on the pill for 8 years, and when I went off, I noticed such a tremendous difference in myself (mood swings, acne, etc) that I swore that I would never use hormonal birth control again.
After this bebe, one of us will have a sterilization procedure, we just don't know which one of us yet.

We're doing NFP and condoms too. I did try the Pill for a few months, but it made me feel awful and I never want to take it again.
I imagine that learning about my natural cycles should help when we wan to conceive.

I've been on the pill for 7 years already and now I'm scared about the consequences. I originally went on it to help with my mild acne, god-awful cramps and irregularity of periods. It's help all of those and then when I became sexually active, I just stayed on it. I'll probably be on it for another 3 years, after that I wanna be off it for one full year before I have a baby.

I've never used BC. Dh and I used the rhythm method for years. When we decided to have a baby, we got pg after 3 months of trying (temp and charting). I breastfed my son for 16 months, then tried to get pg and had a lot of difficulty. I finally got pg and am breastfeeding again but still no period. When I do wean my daughter (working on it now) and I get my period, I won't use anything. All this to say, I'm not the most fertile woman in the world, so no birth control for me. LOL.

I used the pill for 2 years and didnīt affect me, although I didnīt like the fact that some hormones were controlling my body. then I had the IUD for a year and it was fine, but then again, didnīt like it.
Weīre now using condoms.

Gyn surgery! We haven't had sex in over a month and still have another 3 weeks (minimum) to go - whew!
Otherwise, it's condoms/NFP for us too, but in our case, if we got pregant it would be fine so we aren't terribly concerned with BC.
I was on the pill for 10 years, stopped taking it when I got a new job and switched insurance (insurance didn't take effect until 1 month of employment and I didn't want to fill and perscription through Cobra) and alas, my horrible migraines that I had been managing for what felt like my entire life disappeared.
Haven't taken the pill since and haven't had a migraine since, over 1.5 years ago.

Actually, it's really nice to know even if you aren't trying to conceive. I finally started charting and was wowed when after only 2 cycles, I learned I am a 28 dayer, every time.
It's kind of empowering to know. Just mark a calendar - you'll see!

I was on the Pill before I got pregnant.
Now I use an IUD. I didn't want to go back on hormones for various reasons.

Well, nothing right now, obviously.
We were using a combination of condoms and nothing (depending on time of the month). DH and I did that for about 3 years. Before that I was on the pill for about 4 years with a few breaks in between (times when either I or DH was deployed). Now i have to figure out what to use after we have baby #1 but aren't yet ready to try for #2.

I'm currently off the pill but may go back on for non-birth control reasons. I basically use it to regulate hormones and have normal, regular periods. Otherwise, my period comes maybe twice a year, for weeks, and I mean several weeks up to a month, at a time. I went off of it to see if I could get a period normally yet, and it didn't come. My boyfriend had a vasectomy many years ago so I don't need to worry about actually becoming pregnant.

birth control pill for me - i love it! i went on it when i was 18 for wildly irregular periods (sometimes i would skip months, sometimes every 2 weeks i'd get it). i'm actually dreading going off of it someday when husband (to-be) and i want to have kids. i hate the idea of going back to never knowing when my period's coming.

Same here. I get cluster headaches when I take any form of homonal bc. So that really narrows our options down. DH and I are allergic to latex so that narrows the choices down even more. Naturallamb......ewwwww
Knowing your cycles will really help when you want to conceive. Our kids are 10 so we are past that stage

right now pregnancy. When I got married I was on the pill for almost 3 years and decided it wasn't for me. I was too whacked out and it drained my sex drive. So then I started charting and did that for a year. After I had my first kid I didn't worry about charting since BFing really helped but we wouldn't be averse to another pregnancy. Otherwise I wouldn't count on BFing as the sole method of birth control. Either way, BFing kept my period away for 10 months and even then I didn't have a fertile cycle until this last January. Even when you don't chart there are certain signs your body gives you that you'll learn to read.
After this second child I may start to chart again but will most likely just do CM for a while.

Marielle, do you think I might be getting my fertility back? I have had some EWCM (scant amounts), a migraine that lasted overnight and this morning I have a very painful zit on my chin. I am now 12 months post-partum.
Sorry for the guano, Amneris. You can PM me if you like, Marielle.
