How many bathrooms per employee?

Does anyone know if there is a legal number of minimum bathrooms allowed per employee? DH's work has 2 but one is for the women (regular toilet, no stalls) and there are only 3 women who work there, not always at the same time. There are 20-something men who work in the shop and the vice-president (owner's daughter) is very territorial about allowing the men to use the 2nd bathroom. She keeps it under lock and key. If she's that worried about all those men dirtying up the second bathroom, they should put in multiple stalls in the mens room!!

I would do the same thing if I was her. I wouldn't want to use a bathroom that 20+ men shared. Think of the pee everywhere! Ew!
Trying to find some sanity as I work on my master's in nursing...
It's not just that though. This woman is a power hungry beyotch. She loves to control. Great and she's going to be taking over the company once daddy retires yet she knows nothing about the industry. That's a whole other seperate thread though lol

Well that's all your question was about....

Sounds like you just don't like her and are looking for any additional excuse not to like her.

I work with 4 other men and we have two private restrooms. One for them and one for me . If there were 20 men instead, I would still like to keep it that way. Women may be gross but it's usually the unisex bathrooms that smell like piss since they usually miss and don't care.

Wow, that's not enough bathrooms for that many guys. They're asking for unauthorized pissing!

I once had a summer job where there was one woman (me) and about 6 guys. They used to use my bathroom and not flush. And it was up in an un-airconditioned attic in the summer time. I was not happy!
I'm sure there's nothing that can be done but it didn't hurt to look into it for my husband.

lol Suzen...now there's a pun for ya! Yeah,

There is a minimum building code requirement for the size of a building and it's capacity and how many toilets you have to have, but I'll bet with 2 bathrooms and 23 people, they're probably in compliance code-wise. It's the gender distribution that's a problem, and building codes don't cover that.

Think of it as payback for all the hours we women have had to stand in line waiting to use the bathroom, and the guys can just run in and out in seconds.

Way back in the dark ages, when I took my nursing exam, it was a 2 day test, 10 hours a day. They held it in a convention hall. There were several thousand women and maybe 5 guys, all trying to pee during the 30 minute breaks twice a day. The first half a day, we women waited and waited and waited, and many didn't get a chance to use the bathroom. By the afternoon though, we had wised up and commondeered all the mens' rooms and left the guys with only one.

I can certainly sympathize with hubby. Waiting isn't fun when you need to go! I am a public high school teacher at a very large campus and there is one restroom for the male faculty members and one for the female faculty members at my end of the building. The women outnumber the men by a LARGE percentage. My classroom door is ten steps away from the lavatory, but the line in between classes for the ladies faculty room is insane. Since I only have four minutes and thirty seconds after the last student leaves my class to take care of my business, I usually hustle into the student restroom. I receive free makeup and hair styling tips when washing my hands in front of the mirror as a nice job bonus! (insert sarcastic laugh here). Last week I had a student try to hand in a late essay to me while I was in one of the stalls! You just gotta laugh at life sometimes.

LOL! I frequently tell my co-workers that my dream job is one where I can pee whenever I want to and in a bathroom that doesn't involve writing on the wall. I have such high expectations.

I work in IT, so every time me or my coworkers leave the office, we are accosted with computer problems! Many of us have to use strategy just to use the bathroom.
