Bruising from allergy shots

I have been getting allergy shots for a couple of years now,and almost everytime,I bruise.
Huge, ugly black/purple bruises the size of quarters.
I get two shots in one arm and one in the other, and they alternate weekly.
I look like someone has been grabbing me by the arms.
Right now I have 5 on my arms in an assortment of lovely hues.
grrrr...

Any ideas?
Advice?
Sympathy?

I can sort of sympathize...I don't get allergy shots but a couple of weeks ago, had to get a tetanus shot. OMG. That thing bruised, lasted for over a week.

Do you always have to get shots? Can you doa different form of therapy or anything that might not be as painful?
Nah-shots it is-and they help!
I am an easy bruiser to begin with, but geez, this is ridiculous.
I wonder if there are supplements or something that would help?

Hopefully, the nurse who is administering your injections puts a fresh needle on the syringe after she draws up the meds. A lot of nurses don't do this, either from laziness or to save a penny. The needle is dull after punching through the rubber cap on the med bottle, and the needle also has residue on the outside of it which is dragged through the skin, which can be irritating, so it's especially important with allergy injections to change the needle.

Arnica is supposed to help with bruising. Talk to your allergist though...s/he should have some other suggestions to minimize bruising. Maybe s/he'll order some bloodwork to look for the cause if the bruising is excessive. You shouldn't have to put up with constant bruising.
Is the same nurse doing your shots every time? One of the nurses at my allergists always bruises me. If I luck out and get someone else- no bruise. I've realized the giving shots really is an art.
Trying to find some sanity as I work on my master's in nursing...
It used to be one nurse who gave me the bruises, but now it seems like anyone can.
There are about 6 different nurses there.
I have to have my shots at my doctors office, but when I see my allergist every few months,I get them there and NEVER bruise.
Bummer,huh?
Thanks for the info RCW-I'll check it out.
