I'm not a wise waxing guru but I say at least a 20% tip is in order for someone ripping the hair off your lady bits.
If she makes you get on your hands and knees, then you can tip her $10 [if that].

So let's say, hypothetically, that one has been shaving every few days for a long time. Now one's bikini line is bumpy with areas of hyperpigmentation and possibly ingrown hairs from all of that shaving. Would waxing (not necessarily a Brazilian) help the appearance, or make it even worse?

Hypothetically.

never had my p.ubes waxed, but i'd imagine that if you are suffering from pigmented scarring along your bikini line as the result of ingrown hairs, taking away all of your hair down there will only reveal all of your skin tone issues, even ones that you may not have known existed.

now, if you commit to regular waxing maintenance, the waxing may help to exfoliate the top layer of skin, and eventually get rid of the dark scars, revealing a more even skin tone.

but i would imagine that initially, the waxing would be exposing all of your skin tone imperfections.

Yes, I was. I have never been asked to get into that position for a brazilan wax of ALL parts. It strikes me as a little strange and maybe humiliating? The entire process is definitely intimate, as intimate as a gynecological exam. But I wouldn't want to have to squat on all fours for it. I'd have to draw the line there.
I have never been asked to assume that position before either (the all fours position).

Brazilians in my area run $70, I'd tip 15-20% on top of that.
Mine run about $65 or so. They use the wax that does not stick to the skin but does to the skin - it's green. I am not sure that it makes it any less painful but it sure does get out all the hairs. I only find it painful while they are doing it - not after (to answer the other post).

That's the best part - it does not itch while growing back unlike when I shave. Not sure why. I get them every 4-6 weeks.

Scars and things can go away. I had them BAD at one point, and I used shea butter to clear it up.

Wha? Do you mean it sticks to the hair but not the skin?

Well...some waxes stick more to the skin - that is how they pull the hair out along with pulling on the skin. The wax my person uses does not pull on the skin - it just grabs the hair. It still pulls/hurts somewhat because it is pulling out hair but not as much because your skin is not being pulled as much.

Right, I understand that but you said "It does not stick to the skin but it does to the skin" and that did not make sense.

Sorry - it was early. I meant it does not stick to the skin like it does to the hair.

Wondering if I shoudl try one of these. I epilate my bikini line, and have thought about doing the rest of the area, but it hurts like a mo' fo' and I don't know if I could do the entire area with my epliator.

Oh dear God, no. I'm cringing just thinking about that!

Me too! I have an epilator but don't dare use it down there.

I have a friend who does this. I think she's nuts. But she said she has to consume a bottle of wine before she starts.
