Have fun on your date tonight! Have you decided which movie you're going to see?
My "sleepover" guy just invited me to a renewable energy forum in his town on Wednesday morning, the day after our date! It's what he does for a living and something I'm very interested in, but it means I would definitely have to stay over somewhere that night. Sneaky guy

That sounds very promising about the guy. And, omg. I'm rolling at the bolded b/c I told my friends the EXACT same thing! LOL So funny.
Sounds like things are going well for some other people too- that is awesome.
I've had 2 dates so far w/ 2 different guys. The second one last night was just... oh, honey, no. Just- weird and awkward with really bad teeth. I think it was his first date...ever. His pix were not bad at ALL so it just goes to show ya that people on the Internet are not always being forthright (shocker!)
I've got another one lined up for Sunday, and next Thursday. But gotta say, I'm a little shell-shocked from this last one, and am almost tempted to cancel.

Thanks! We ended up seeing Black Swan, which was really great. Natalie Portman did an amazing job playing a fragile woman. I had a really great time with KD. I actually got there a bit early. I had left my house about an hour before I had to be there because it was a 30 minute drive to the theater (KD and I live in different cities) and it was towards the end of rush hour. KD was really cute in person and really funny. After the movie, we went to Denny's and ended up eating and talking for a couple of hours. I didn't get home until really late. Can't wait to go out with him again
lol @ sneaky guy. The renewable energy forum sounds really cool. Hope you have a great time.

I am still too wussy to message any of the men I am interested in.
I don't know what to say.

Maybe try mentioning something in their profile that you thought was interesting. Like, "Oh cool, another (insert random band name) fan! Which song of (band name)'s do you like?" Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't

Thanks!
I'll give that a go.
I had my first IM chat with a guy last night on plenty of fish. He seemed a bit desperate though but it was a start and practice.

So, date #3 last night was amazing. We had a fancy dinner, then went out drinking, then made out. A lot.
I was on the fence about him at the beginning, but I think I like him now He's a very cool person and we have a lot in common. I'm kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop.
He is coming to town Friday night for another date, and probably a sleepover

How were everybody's dating weekends??
Date #4 was Saturday night. Everything went great, but I find myself vacillating again about how I feel. I'll persevere though, we have another date later this week. He stayed over but we didn't do the deed yet. He says he has some weird superstitions from growing up in Mexico that include not having sex until the third time you fool around
My reservations include the fact that we are seemingly from different worlds - he has a lot of money (not that that's a bad thing, but the man eats out every meal and gets manicures, for goodness sake), he seems to have few friends (I guess that happens as you get older, but I have many friends that I spent a lot of time with), and, uhhh, he's not very well endowed
Pros include the fact that he has a lot of money , we have similar values, he is worldly and has good social skills (something never to be underestimated!). Hmmm.
According to this article which has been doing the rounds, I fall somewhere between selfish and shallow
Opinions? Advice?

*snork*
if she thinks unmarried women are shallow and selfish and not looking for men of character, she hasn't been dating enough.
single men in their 40s and beyond are just as shallow and selfish as any woman can be. and the great majority of them don't give two hoots about character. all they care about is how you look.
and you better look like Western society's idea of "hot" (i.e. thin with big boobs) or you're not getting anywhere.
if Ms. McMillan cruised the forums at Plenty of Fish for a couple of days, she'd learn this in no time flat.

Ha, here is what my friend had to say about him after hanging out on Saturday night:
I agree with your cons (even though that was TMI since I'm sober) and pros. I see his cons as: bad hair (we already discussed that, no guys are good with hair though) and frankly, even though he's super nice and easy to talk to, and knows cool things he just didn't strike me as someone i would call cool. You, divegirl, are cool and I picture you with someone that I would call cool. I can't define cool at this moment, it just is or it isn't. And we all have our uncool moments, a few of mine occurred on Saturday night in fact, but I think you should be with someone cool. Does that make any sense at all?? I hope so so b.c. I don't want to sound inconsiderate or judgey! Dude really was super duper nice. And it was fun to talk to him. AND whether or not he's cool shouldn't determine the fate of the two of you.

Idk. I think that you may have something with this guy. The pros that you listed seem to be pretty good to me. Are the cons you listed deal-breakers or things that you can deal with? That might help you decide. As for the whole cool thing,
I haven't gone on anymore dates recently and haven't been on OKC much either. I'm really interested in KD but sometimes he is hard to read. He's out of town right now, so we shall see what happens when he comes back.

i heard from him once a few weeks ago and then again a couple of days ago.
and now we're going out again this weekend.

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.
