Default Am I too white?

NO! I absolutely hate when people say I'm too white and need to get a tan. Why do I NEED to get a tan? So I can get skin cancer and wrinkly skin? Can't I just be happy with the skin I was given? I think tanning is way overrated. Even though I have tried all kinds of self tanners, etc to look "normal" when I'm wearing my summer clothes. But then I just said **** it, I'm just going to be happy the way I am, if you don't like it then don't look at me!

Don't risk your health by going to tanning beds. It could cause skin cancer or premature wrinkles. Just be happy with your natural self.

I am totally with you. I'm so white that people I've worked with thought I wore white tights every day. My friend says all the time that I need a tan. Aside from not begging for cancer, I will also have killer skin at our high school reunions, while she and the other tanorexics I went to school with are wrinkly, rubbery mannequins. Put on your sunglasses, folks, because I rock the white. Mini skirts and all.

(I got sunburned from riding in a car halfway across the country, and it is turning into a tan. I'm actually really upset. It doesn't look like "me" since I haven't had a tan in years, and the burn/tan is evidence of skin damage. I'm ready to go back to pasty, thanks. It just suits me better, methinks. Well, that, and only one arm is burned/tan. And half my chest/neck is darker than the other. I just look silly. Love your skin tones, ladies!)

ETA: Love your screen name. I saw them at Ozzfest a few years ago!

If someone said to an African-american person that their skin was too black, they would be accused of racism. Same case here. Rock your skin tone! I refuse to bleach out my skin, so why should you tan yours?

I've had a piece of paper held up to my face and told that it was about right.
That my perfect foundation would be to mix the fair with white-out.
I don't complain though. In the olden days, pale was hot.
Time travellers would be drooling over us white girls.

People ALWAYS tell me this. "You're so white! You're so pale! I bet you'd look great with a tan".

No. I won't. I sunburn easily and hate being in the sun. I like my pale skin because it makes me look Snow Whitish. When I'm tan (which is rare) I look kinda sweaty.

When you're older, and your face is relatively smooth and doesn't look like chewed leather, but everyone who criticized you looks like the Cryptkeeper... let that be your vindication.

I don't let silly or rude comments bother me because I was born with this skin, and I want to keep it healthy as long as I can.

The sun gives me those little tiny freckles everwhere. My dad gets enough of those to look tan, but I dont. I just have cinnamon sprinkles on my knees.

For some reason, from your photos, I would have thought you have more of an olive complexion and not so pale. Maybe I am thinking of a different curly.

If I was meant to tan then I wouldn't burn so bloody easily. People are always telling me that I have really nice skin. I feel like saying "That's what happens when you stay out of the sun". I used to hate my color but now I embrace it.

I've never been fashionable before. I kinda like it.

Me too, only it's just the top part of one arm. Not only does it look weird with a tan just in that one spot, but the freckles are more prominent there, which makes me mad cause my freckles are supposed to be even.

Yay! Im very pale too! I live in England, not what you'd call the hottest country, and if Im out in the sun for like ten minutes I start to go red and burn. It never turns into a tan-not that I'd particularly want to. Thats why I hate holidays to really hot places!

Its only recently tans are fashionable anyway, in the olden days women with pale skin who kept out of the sun were thought to be beautiful!

I'm really pale too and don't tan. Once I had a spray tan and it looked really good. I looked slimmer and more toned, the skin on my face looked clearer and my eyes looked bluer. It also looked 'right' with my big dark curly hair. I had lots of compliments too. I'd like to look like that all the time, but spray tans are too expensive. Hopefully I'll be able to find a tan from a bottle that looks natural. I'd much rather be pale than orange.

Embrace your paleness! I had several really bad sunburns when I was a teenager (what can I say, it was the 80s). I felt uncomfortable because the "healthy" California Girl, Christie Brinkley look was in. It was incredibly uncomfortable being the really pale girl with black hair. I have been religiously using sunscreen since the sunburns. I'm going to be 40 this year, and no one can believe it. So, aside from reducing your chances of skin cancer, sun protection also will help keep your skin young looking and healthy.

Piglet, try using shades of brown eyeshadow on your eyes. I use them on my blue eyes, and it makes them look even bluer.
