Wow, what a story. I wonder what made the dog decide to take the baby with her? Very handsome dog too.

Part of me wonders if the dog really brought the baby there to save it or to serve it to the puppies.

Oh man, I can't see for the tears in my eyes. Dogs are our companions as well as protectors. I really think this one had invisible wings.

That is so sweet.

Wasn't there a similar story last year?

What a great story...I just love dogs.

There was a sad story maybe a week or two ago about a dog's owner who had passed away while they were in the woods somewhere. The dog stayed with the owner for something like two week and basically went without food to protect his deceased owner until someone came and found them both. He or she was pretty emaciated by that time but they believe that the dog protected the owner from coyotes and other predators.

They really are companions and protectors as Speckla stated.

LOL

If they were newborn puppies, I doubt it. They would not be eating meat yet. She would have eaten the baby herself, then gone back to nurse the puppies.

It sounds to me like maternal instinct.

Cute dog. I feel sorry for the baby--and the 14 year old mother

What an awesome story!

I once owned a shepard husky mix. He adored my children. One day my children & some of their friends were playing in the front yard. We lived on a corner lot. He was in the backyard, but heard them playing, so he jumped our 8' block fence to be with them. He saw another dog across the street & ran over, but was hit by a car in the process. My oldest daughter started crying & screaming running into the house. She told us the story of the dog getting hit by a car. We were confused because the dog was sitting next to her looking up at her concerned. She hadn't realized that he heard her & ran after her to make sure she was alright. We scooped him up & took him to our vet. The vet said he was amazed that the dog was able to walk much less run after my daughter. He had some pretty severe injuries. The dog was so concerned that something was wrong with my daughter that he forgot about his own injuries & went to her. He survived the accident & was a wonderful pet for my children. I always felt safe when he was with them. I miss him dearly.

Wow, that's a very touching story. Can you imagine telling your grandchildren the story of how this dog has saved your life. That's amazing.

I love dogs and this story makes me miss my dog even more. We had a black short haired lab retriever and he used to go everywhere with me, he really was like a big brother (he was a year older than me). When I went for a swim in the sea when I was little he would even follow me into the sea and swim with me. He always stayed near me until I decided I wanted to get out of the water. I felt so save with him.

For me, there's nothing like being in bed with all my dogs; it's the safest feeling in the world.

Isn't it a sad world when a dog has a stronger maternal instinct than the baby's own mother? My baby baby died less than two weeks ago and you have no idea the rage I have right now against this woman/girl. I'm trying very hard not to feel this way but I can't help it right now. I would do anything to have a chance to have my baby alive and its just not fair. She just threw this baby away like garbage. God bless this dog...
