WE met a REAL faerie! *pics*
Seriously. If you do a yahoo image search for real faerie, this one comes up in about 95% of the pics, and we met her on Saturday at the Renaissance Festival. Her name is Twig, and she's a woodland sprite. She's very shy (and doesn't speak at all), but loves to give children little glass baubles as gifts. She plays a double flute just loud enough for those near her to hear, and she enchants everyone around her. She visits many Renaissance Festivals across the country, so if you have one near you and you see her, make sure you meet her. It's magical!
Twig playing her flute:
Twig giving a gift to my daughter. She's so shy and sweet, and when she pulls the baubles out of her little pouch, she sprinkles faerie dust from her fingertips.
My daughter and I with Twig - she was busy examining her gift, but LOVED Twig. When she sees her pics on the computer now, she HAS to kiss them. I can't wait until she sees her next year - she's going to go NUTS! *lol*
You can even become her friend on myspace! http://www.myspace.com/twigfaerie

Cute!
I was a "real" faerie at a different faire a few years ago... the Autumn Faerie, to be exact.
It was tons of fun, but it was really hard for me to not talk all day.

Wonderful! We met Twig the last time we were at the Renaissance Festival, which was probably 2 years ago. She was absolutely lovely.

Not a bad life she's set up for herself...she gets to travel around, wear fairy wings, be silly, and not have to chit-chat. Can't beat that.

No kidding! DH and I have decided that if our daughter wants to be a fairy for a living, we'll support her completely, because I think Twig has it made!

My daughter loved these pics! She said the faerie had "beautiful butterfly wings".

That is awesome. She's beautiful. I have a question though, and I mean NO disrespect, I'm just curious. What makes her a "real" faerie, per se? Other than like, a woman in a costume who goes to Ren fairs? I'm curious, not being snarky.

Oh you should see her in person. She's totally enchanting! My daughter was fighting her nap (too much to see and do there, you know!) and she was getting a little cranky, but Twig just hypnotized her.
DH and I thought Twig was very reminiscent of the Amy Brown faeiries, and the best faerie we've ever seen IRL. If you haven't seen her work before, here's a link to her site.

Heehee! No problem, Jess. When you meet her, she's ALWAYS in character. But she has these mannerisms - the way she covers her mouth shyly when she smiles, the way she stands from sitting on her knees and playing her flute, the way she reaches into her little pouch to grab a shiny bauble to give to a little girl...and she NEVER speaks, but her face is so expressive.
After we took those pics, she walked (in a very faerie-like way - she kind of floats, almost) over to see a few of the guys who worked at the festival, and I watched for a minute. She accidentally got her wing caught in a shepherd's hook that was holding a lantern, and instead of yelling and hollering for somebody to get her unstuck (she couldn't reach where it was caught), she squinted her cute face all up and stamped her feet when the guys were making jokes about catching a faerie. I realize that she's just playing a character, but she does it so well and so often that even a glitch in her day can't throw her off.
But we're still going to let our daughter believe that she met a real faerie, because I've never met anything closer to one than she is.

I loooooooooooooooove Twig! She's sooooo adorable, every time I see her at the Ren fest here.
And ditto to her always being 'on', i've never seen her slip out of her character. It's really easy to believe she's the real deal

She visits Renaissance Festivals all over the country - if you go to her myspace page, it lists where she'll be and when! Maybe your daughter can meet her!

Great photos! You all look so pretty, too. I've always wanted to go to a Renaissance faire.
Twig looks like so much fun to watch/interact with. I wouldn't mind having her life.

That's so neat! I envy her.
I love ren faires... I haven't been to one in a while. They didn't have faeries at ours, though!

Try doing a Yahoo image search for "twig fairy". My pics are horrible in comparison, because you get so many that show her face in much better detail. The lighting and angle were bad for me to catch it all, but I did get a good angle on her awesome wings!

Sorry, but it would have been funny to see her crack character and yell
" OH &#%(# ! Somebody help me get my damn fairy (or faerie) wing off that fricken' hook!"

You are so lucky! I met her at a renaissance fair a few years ago and she was enchanting.
I find she seems almost magical. I felt like a little kid around her. It was a great experience. Glad your daughter felt that magic too!
