Default Memory issues

I'm a pretty young girl and sometimes take Ambien CR to get to sleep. I know that one of the side effects is waking in the middle of the night and doing something and having no memory of it. I once had a conversation with my sister and had no memory of it the next day.

Last night, I went to bed, did not take an Ambien and slept, but had a rough night. I got up, let the dog out and went back to bed. I thought. When I got up again, I was surprised to see Ice Cream, and popsicles in the fridge, and 2 kinds of gel in the bathroom and 2 satin night caps. Now, I vaguely remember driving (ohmigosh, the horror) to the store (luckily, only across the street) and computing things in my head for the money I had on-hand. I remember being completely coherent during the time, but then had no definitive memory of actually doing it.

WTH? Is it possible that extended use can cause these kind of reactions even if you didn't take the pill? Kind of like a conditioned response or something?

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.

No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

Sounds like sleepwalking to me. I've done some pretty crazy things while asleep. Have you sleptwalk before?

Oooohhhh...that's one I hadn't thought of. I don't think I've ever sleepwalked. Nobody has ever said that I sleep walk.

I have taken Ambien before and slept walk, ate, and conversed. I did those more often on the nights I took but it also slightly on the inbetween nights.

I've done the eating while asleep thing. I woke up and there was an empty box of cookies on the floor next to my bed. Or an empty sleeve of Ritz crackers.

Okay, so it could be the Ambien. It's good to know I'm not going insane. Well, I already am insane. But more so than normal.

Check out the "What stupid things have you done lately?" thread.

I will never take that stuff again.

Man I think I was sleepwalking when I posted. Sleptwalk? WTH kind of word is that .. LOL

AAR - It happens most often with me when I'm stressed or over tired but here are just a few of my antics - I've cleaned out closets, started changing the oil in my car, cooked meals, gotten ready and left for work, etc. I have heard of it happening to people on certain medications or during particularly stressful times in their lives when they've never done it before. I've done it since I was a kid.

My SO's sister took Ambien, and she kept waking up with nasty headaches. She thought it was from the Ambien, until the night her husband caught her in the liquor cabinet. Apparently she was hitting the bottle pretty hard in the middle of the night without realizing it, and her headaches were actually hangovers. She stopped taking it, but it took about a week for her to stop roaming around during the night.

It's a shame too because it's the only thing I've found I can take without any grogginess the next day. I sleep so well and feel so rested. I'm afraid of getting arrested or driving through a building in my sleep.

The catfood incident was the second.

The first was muddy footprints through the house and a muddy bed. Apparently I felt the need to garden in the middle of the night.

I'll stick with wine, a hot bath and a boring book.

Mine was yelling at my son and calling him a liar when he said he didn't eat the chocolate.
