I know you're not a cat person..but..

Is your Smudge a Maine Coon? How old is s/he and is her/his under belly silver? I'm curious because your cat looks identical to my cat named Shadow.

She's all black...well, it's more of a very dark charcoal gray color, not as dark as black. She's the most docile thing.

I'm not very happy with her today...I spent an hour vacuuming the dining room carpet, where she spends most of her time, and had to empty the vacuum 3 times for just one room. It looked like there was another cat in my trash can. Whenever I vacuum, I try to figure out why I thought a long-haired cat would be a good idea...can't figure out my thought process at the time, because I specifically chose a non-shedding dog breed, because I hate animal hair in the house, and Smudge makes tumbleweeds.

My vacuum died in less than a year. It choked to death on cat fur. The turning brush was clogged with cat fur and the motor burnt up while I was trying to figure out why it wasn't turning. He shakes and fur goes flying.

I've goggled black Maine Coons and have seen a lot that look like mine. Ragdolls are beautiful and sweet tempered.
Now you have me wondering...I googled black Maine Coon and saw lots of pics that look like my cat. I didn't know they came in black. She has a huge "ruff" around her neck, and apparently that's like a Coon. She's got tufted paws and ears too....hmmmm...

Whatever she is, she's definitely not just a mutt. She was found in a street gutter and rescued by someone. Don't know how she got there. She was only about 4 weeks old. I got her from the animal shelter.

Is she silver underneath? I always joke that our cat Shadow has a silver-lining. He has long tufts of fur between his toes and he looks like he's going to be big. He's now just a year old and bigger than most of my other older cats.

He was a recue cat that a lady at work found. His eyes weren't opened and he still had the umbilical cord still attached.
Lemme go flip her over...

Yeah, I guess you could consider her underbelly silver-furred. It's very far down in the hair though...only silver at the root.

I have light carpet and his fur shows up in big clumps everywhere. Ugh, yuck, and gross. I've thought about getting a grooming brush but wonder if it'd make a difference. He leaves a black cloud of fur when he sneezes.

We used to have 2 Maine Coons. One was fat and one was skinny, but unless you picked them up, you couldn't tell the difference. They were big, fluffy sweeties.

The vacuum choking to death on the fur is the primary reason Merlin is a short hair.

I want a Maine Coon cat so badly! Actually, I want two kittens. But they are so expensive! *sigh* I'm jealous of you guys...
I have 3c hair that I haven't straightened in over 5 years. It's just past shoulder length when dry, and almost waist length when pulled straight.

Products:
9/02/08 Went CG
05/12/09 Still CG. Cowashing with VO5 Lavender Luster. I then condition with Giovanni Smooth as Silk. Styling with VO5 Lavender Luster conditioner with my wide-toothed comb.
