Hi! Ooh, I get such a warm fuzzy when I read my name in a thread title.

Dragon*Con was AWESOME! My main interest was Firefly, and my son's main interest was Star Wars.

We went to three Firefly panels: one with Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion, which we got 6th row for; and two others with Alan Tudyk, Nathan Fillion, Morena Baccarin and Jewel Staite. Not great seats for those, but the lines were crazy huge, going out the door and wrapping around the building. But at least we got in! My pics at the panels are pretty bad because zoom + no flash + bad photographer = crap pictures. There was supposed to be a fourth Firefly/Whedonverse panel with Nathan, Alan, James Marsters and Tahmoh Penkiett, but it was cancelled.

We also went to the Star Wars Stars panel that had several actors from Star Wars: Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), Jake Lloyd (little Anakin, but he's grown up now), Ray Park (Darth Maul), Dave Prowse (Darth Vader), Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett), Matthew Wood (General Grievous), and Daniel Logan (young Boba Fett). We got front row, center seats for that (we earned it with a LONG wait in line, but at least we were at the beginning of the line so we were in the nice air-conditioned building). My son was in HEAVEN!

We also went to a lecture on evolution; a New York Jedi demonstration; a Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog sing-along (very awesome fun!); a screening of The Guild; and a workshop for the kids about using and making lightsabers. Some of the Star Wars stars were supposed to be there but were not. But the kids still had fun.

Due to scheduling conflicts or just the lateness of the day, we had to skip the Battlestar Galactica panel, a LOTR panel with Sean Astin, the Buffy OMWF sing-along, and the Firefly and Star Wars parties.

I got Nathan Fillion to autograph my copy of Slither, Alan Tudyk to autograph my copy of Death at a Funeral (if you haven't seen those movies, you should, they are really funny!), and Morena Baccarin and Jewel Staite to sign my Serenity comic books (I already have Nathan and Alan's sigs on those, I got on auction before). My son got autographs from several Star Wars actors. Jake Lloyd (little Anakin) is 19 now and he was really nice to my son. He said he remembered him from the previous day at the panel, and commented on his mustache.

I didn't get many pictures of celebs because the only time you could get close to them was when you were getting autographs, and many don't allow pictures at that time any more. My son got tons of pics of people in costumes. One of these days I will get them onto Flickr. But I was able to get a pic of my son with Matthew Wood of Star Wars:

They had professional pictures that you could pay to have your picture taken with the celebs (which is probably why you can't get free candids anymore). We got one of my son with Ray Park:

And, there's this little pic here:

(Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk) *swoon*

(ETA: Atlanta was not kind to my hair, please ignore it.)

The whole time, my son and I kept saying to each other, "Next time we come...", "Next year...", but who are we kidding? There's no way I could afford it again next year. But maybe in a few years. We definitely want to go again. I feel so lucky that my son enjoys the same kinds of things as me (ie: we're both geeks) so we can do this kind of thing together. And I already have my eye on a smaller con in Maryland in February that Alan Tudyk will be at.

Thank you for asking!!

I know. It was all I could do not to turn into a squealing, fangirl mess.

And they actually called that photo option a 'sandwich', because it was two celebrities. So I am officially the filling in a Nathan Fillion/Alan Tudyk sandwich.

Very fun! I am pretty sure we were at some of the same panels as you then. We went to the Firefly one on Saturday in the line that wrapped around the block and stood in the crazy heat.

And we totally took candids, we just asked first.

Robert Englund - he was very fun to talk to -

Avery Brooks - my new husband, he was so nice and so much fun to talk to. I think I professed my love to him about 200 times. He was asking where I was from and all, totally making chit chat. So much fun!! -

And of course, the ever present Stormtroopers -

Great! I wonder if we crossed paths! We were definately both at the Saturday Firefly panel, then. What other panels did you go to? Where did you stay?

I caught this pic of the ultimate melding of fandom:

We stayed at the Hyatt, we did Firefly, some Ghosthunters (TAPS), Dean Haglund, plus we wandered around the art show and contest and the dealer room. I got in late Friday, so I missed the Dr. Horrible sing along. Then we drank alot so much time was spent in the bar watching all the people. Plus we hung out at the Marriott alot people watching too. We had fun.

Oh, there were many times where I thought how nice it would be to have a room right there! We planned this last minute so we had to stay at a Sheraton about 1/2 an hour north of the convention. I learned the MARTA system really fast.

How far in advance did you have to reserve the room?

Yeah, we booked it in January. We weren't taking any chances.
