Thumbs down Today is my folks' 50th...

So, I made the mistake of calling them to tell them happy 50th. Before the call was over, mom was giving me the third degree on how we shouldn't have had our kid [of course, no mention of GP] & the expectations are never ending. Obviously there is more to the story...I give up...

Thanks for letting me vent...
I'm still upset from the whole thing & that was 6 hours ago. Of course hubby has no idea...

That's really crappy, Wile. I hope that everything gets straighten out with your family. What would posess her to say that about your kid since you & your family aren't your brother?

Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry

From some of the stuff you have written, it sounds like such a toxic relationship....I think you need to take a break for awhile...

But what did she mean anyway? Why shouldn't you have had your kid?

(((hugs)))
I'm so sorry you had such a sad and stressful conversation.
It hurt so badly when my family was disappointed every time I announced each pregnancy, I cannot imagine horrible it feels to hear my parents tell me that.

((hugs))

Thanks everyone.
I talked to hubby tonite. Thankfully, he's very supportive...taken aback, but supportive..oy..what a cluster.
I never said one thing about GP...I would have just added fuel to the fire..very hard for me, indeed. And since he's conveniently not around right now, I'm the punching bag, as usual.
This whole situation has taken such a toll on everyone.
Mom doesn't agree w/ what I do in my fam, especially when it comes to my kid & so she thinks she can tell me what I should do. Of course, she is never wrong...I digress.. However, I fire back, which makes it hard...i.e., church stuff..boy could I go on...
Thanks for letting me vent...

But that doesn't answer the question of why she thinks you ought not to have had your child. Lots of grandparents think we don't raise the grandkids right, but to say that you shouldn't have "HAD" the child is a bit much. Why would she say that?

Well, my mother would hear my potty mouth like never before if she ever said that about my daughter.
