timely thread. during the week at work i drink water and tea w/out sweetener all day. i was drinking coffee at work but this week i'm trying to cut out the coffee because i don't like it unless it's loaded with sugar and creamer.
i'm trying to drink more water and green tea. i have the cutest little sigg bottle that i try to fill up and drink on my drive in, while i'm at work and fill up for my drive home. i exercise so i sweat a lot but i don't really drink while i workout.
i'm still taking a prenatal and i think the iron has made me sort of constipated so i'm trying to drink more water. plus i hope it helps my skin and waistline. i'm trying to reduce my sugar intake drastically for numerous reasons.

I second this. But honestly, for myself, it could be that I am ignoring the signs that I need to get up and get something to drink. I know that when I am at work, for instance, I have to make a very conscious effort to drink water because there have been times when I have gone entire days only drinking one or two cups without even realizing it; and then I end up with painful bladder issues

I voted 8 or more. I am nursing right now and I drink a ton of water. But sometimes I still feel like I can't quench my thirst.

as long as my urine is clear to no darker than lemonade, i feel that i'm adequately hydrated.

thats totally how i am. i actually have to remind myself to drink something, anything, at least once a day. ive literally gone days without drinking anything because i simply dont get thirsty. which is kind of weird.
but ive recently tried to stick to "the drink half your body weight in ounces" formula for drinking water. i cant stand water, so i usually have to force myself to drink it. so far so good!

I usually drink 6-8 cups on a work day. I count tea in there, but I don't drink more than two cups of tea a day, and usually only one has caffeine. But, like others have said, I don't drink nearly as much on the weekend. Unless I'm working out, in which case I guzzle it down.
Whether or not I "need" it, I always feel better when I keep up with my 6-8 cups/ day.

I usually drink 6-8 per day. Some days I drink more than 8, though.

This thread inspired me to guzzle down a 16.9 oz of bottled water. Ahhhhhh!
I usually only get 1-2 cups of liquids a day. I'm bad about that. I get severely dehydrated-- headaches, fatique-- and I still forget to drink.
I need to drink more...even if it's just 4 cups a day.
Well, that 16.9 oz count as 2 cups and I averaged maybe a cup earlier today. If soda counts (which I rarely drink, but did have one today with my hamburger), then I got another cup (averaging...it was larger than a cup but I didn't drink it all either).
I don't think I could keep up with the 8 cups of water a day rule, so I'm glad it's not really true.
My goal is to at least drink a little more than I usually do. If I can do that, then I'll move up from there.

6-8 glasses.
2 cups of coffee in the morning
sip on 32 oz of powerade during the day
nothing but water once I get home from work.
drink more if your urine is too dark.
drink less if your urine is too light.
some meds will change the color and some vitamins will make it bright yellowish/orange.

Water 1 or 2 if that some days.
Other stuff more then I could count, but definitely more then 8. I am always drinking something. I'm trying to drink more water, my milk consumption is getting a bit much.

Regardless, I know that I feel better when I drink more water. I also know that if I relied on thirst only, I would not drink water. When I followed just my thirst level, I felt worse and had more frequent headaches and chronic kidney/bladder infections.
So I can read 20 articles about how it isn't necessary (and God knows there's another 20, if not more, that say the opposite ) but I choose to go on my own personal experience. And my own personal experience is that I feel way better when I drink water.

I feel more mental clarity and physical relaxation when I drink a lot. I don't keep track though so I'm not sure how to answer the poll.
I usually fill my mug with green tea or chamomile tea in the morning and keep drinking it throughout the day, refilling it when I reach the bottom and reusing the same teabag all day.

I go through 2-3 L of water a day--because I'm constantly thirsty! I take a prescription drug that has frequent thirst as a side effect.
