Who's going to the Presidential Inauguration?

They were selling tickets to the parade for $25 for the bleachers on ticketmaster. I plan on getting there early (like 8am) with my camping chairs and setting up shop!
unfortunately, those were sold out within seconds. literally, within seconds on friday.
3B corkscrews with scatterings of 3A & 3C.
Forget the stroller, Amneris. Bring the Ergo and you and whoever is in your party should take turns carrying JJ when you get tired.
FYI - From the Metro website.

The U.S. Secret Service has deemed the Inauguration as a special national security event and due to security measures, the Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter station on Metro's Green/Yellow Lines and the Smithsonian station on the Blue/Orange Lines, will be closed on Inauguration Day, Tuesday, January 20. They will open after the parade, approximately at 6:30 p.m. Judiciary Square station on the Red Line will close at 4 p.m. and Mt. Vernon Sq/7th St Convention Center station on the Green/Yellow Lines will close at 7:30 a.m. due to their proximity to locations hosting Inaugural Balls. Both stations are scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m., on Wednesday, January 21.

These five stations will be exit-only from 4 to 10:30 a.m.: Federal Triangle, Federal Center SW, Farragut West, Capitol South and McPherson Square. These stations are located within a 10-minute walk of another Metro station that will be open for entry.

**I think there will be a lot of walking even for those taking Metro!!!
If I was attending an event that was really important to me like this one is to Amneris, I'd bring my son too (who's just a couple months younger than JJ). I'd wear him and make my husband take turns carrying him, and yes the diaper bag issue would be a pain. It would be an ordeal but I certainly wouldn't leave him at home overnight or for a few days at this age.

ETA: It would have to be a REALLY big event though for me to go to the trouble of attending with my son. My husband and I make a point of avoiding situations that are inappropriate for or unfair to DS. But obviously this event is really important to A and it's worth it for her.

I'm still gushing over how our kid's generation (Pix, Am and anyone else with itty bitty kiddos) will be the first to realize that there is nothing "odd" about having a Black president or a woman running for president.

I'm now starting to rethink my attendance. With all of the restrictions, limited space(only a certain number can be on the parade routes, and a certain number on the mall, etc.,etc.) metro restrictions(entry and exit only stations...wtf?), and then the mess getting there, getting out.....just seems like a helluva lot of an inconvenience. Rush hour in the area is already crazy, but with the added numbers....it's going to be ridiculous. In all the inaugurations we've had in the city, this by FAR is and will be the most chaotic(the Pres had to declare a state of emergency JUST to secure additional funds for all of this!). Oh, and add to the fact that it will be COLD, and you'll literally have to be there before they open the security checkpoints just to get in. Most folks I'm hearing are thinking of heading down there when the metro opens....at 4am. And I'm sure many will do the same thing.

The city only has a pop. of about 600,000, and millions are expected to attend....in such a restrictive space. Meh. I may just stay at home.

My ex was given a ticket by a Senator, so he'll have a seat right up there, so I told him to take good pics just in case I won't be there.

i'm worried about crowds and logistics. being able to eat. staying warm.

i have a friend who is so concerned that she won't be able to get through the crowds to get to the bathroom that she is planning on wearing Depends. seriously.

5000 porta-potties for millions of folks. No good.

And it's gonna be cold. I'm freezing my butt off IN THE HOUSE right now, so I can't imagine how I'm gonna feel being outside for 8+ hours standing, hungry, thirsty and needing to relieve myself. LOL!

As much as I like the idea of being there, I know I wouldn't do well (cold+huge crowd+I'm short so I will likely see nothing anyway). My husband is on the fence on going as well.

i don't care if it's 3 degrees and there's 3 portapotties and i have to walk all 3 miles in the snow to go home! i wouldn't miss it for anything.
Everyone who is going, good for you! I hope you have a great time without too many hassles, but I'm more of this frame of mind:

I can walk in uggs without any problem, but then again I also have a special arch support insole that I add to all my shoes because I'm flat footed. But you should wear whatever is comfortable for you....you can always just wear a pair of flat boots or even sneakers!

I'm wearing the uggs (and all the layers) because I'm on meds that lower my tolerance for cold weather plus i'm always cold...so I need to make sure I'm warm.

BTW...i saw your other thread....you're in DC right? I got my thermal underwear at Kmart in Germantown around christmas time (they had tons of them then). Check there and if all else fails, wear tights or some fitted leggings under your jeans! I have a friend that wears the workout tights under her jeans that she swears that they are just as good as thermals
