Who's going to the Presidential Inauguration?

I AM!!!!! There was a huge seat sale so I booked my ticket today. We'll be staying with family in Fairfax, VA and apparently it will be a full house of family and friends so it should be a blast!

Anything special I need to know about inaugurations? Has anyone been before? I am SO excited!!!!

That's cool. Aren't you Canadian, though?
I saw this a few days ago, and I know you have a young child, so this might be helpful if you haven't seen it yet:
Inaugural security: leave chairs, strollers home
Under construction.
That's neat. Make sure you're aware of what you're not allowed to bring, because it's not very baby/small kid friendly. You can't have strollers or backpacks. You should check about diaper bags and other supplies you would want with you.

Have fun!

I'm going!!! I didn't get a ticket (because they are hard to come by) but I will be happily sitting on the Mall with all the other people who don't have tickets.

It's going to be INSANE but awesome none the less..

Just wondering-- how did you book a ticket TODAY? As far as I know there's no place regular people can necessarily buy tickets for the inauguration and my dad told me they are only given out a week before the inauguration and then that's only to Reps and Senators...?

Not calling you a liar or anything, just curious...
I just want to do what I want to do when I want to do it.
I thought the ticket sales for the inauguration were a scam and the only way to get them was through your Congressman? Please be careful, I'd hate to think you lost a lot of money.
Eres o te haces?
I think Amneris meant her airplane ticket, not inauguration ticket.

Only one seat, Amneris? Are you not taking JJ?
I am going. Staying with my parents a few nights in Arlington but definitely with my sis for the partying on the weekend before and night before inaugration. She lives in dupont circle and we'll be walking to I think it's National Mall that morning. Its the area nearby for people who dont have tickets. I havent bought my ticket yet..I could always drive if I dont find anything, I know a few people going. I am so excited too.. Are you going to any of the inauguration balls/events? I'm so excited that this is happening during my lifetime.
I'm going to DC for it, but not to any of the actual official events. They'll be plenty of unofficial inauguration celebrations, though, and to be on the National Mall for the whole thing will be so cool! I'm staying with a friend in the city.

I'm either going to be in Half Moon Cay or Nassau, on a cruise ship. About half the ship much prefers staying on board and watching the inauguration to going into port (it's a music themed cruise, we're on it for the music, not the destinations), so we're trying to get together folks to have a party on board watching the inauguration.

If I weren't going on a cruise that week, I would most likely be able to get to DC and get to at least one ball thanks to one of my best friends...

But at least the pews never attend yoga!
I live in DC and I'll be going to the ceremony and 2 balls that weekend. I'm in TX for work, and I to go home every 30days on the company dime...so I made sure that it fell during that time. I didn't catch a fare sale...so my tickets were $800 roundtrip.

The last two bush inaugurations were rainy/sleeting and COLD so bring PLENTY of warm clothes. I have tickets to the ceremony, but I have a bunch of friends and family that don't and they plan on camping out Monday night to get a good spot on the mall.

Bring good walking shoes and don't even THINK about driving into the city..take the metro. I heard that the commuter trains are hiking up fares on that day AND reducing schedules if you arn't a monthly fare holder (VRE and MARC are charger $25 one way into the city for that day). When you get into town...get a smart trip card for the metro....much faster than the paper fare cards...you just wave it over the sensor and go...no worring about having enough money left on you fare card or having change for the bus.

The entire city will be packed...most businesses will be open 24 hours that weekend and are allowed to serve alcohol until 4am. It's going to be one HUGE party!!!

If you need anyother tips...hit me up on PM and I'll be happy to share with u.

I'm going!!!!! With a busload of my peers and some faculty
Turtles: omg please don't put that in your moo moo

Nej: too late... moo moo has been infiltrated.
I'm there!! I can't wait. I'm going with my husband and at least his father; dunno who else is coming with. I have friends who live very close to the red line (Metro), so I'm crashing w/ them the night before.

you ladies are soooo lucky. usually i wouldnt buy tickets to any event such as sporting or concert if its in the nosebleed section. i mind as well watch it on big screen tv. but for this momentous occasion i would give my left pork bun to be near the stage. i wish i could have been at MLK's march back in the 60's.
