If You Were a Book Character, Who Would You Be?
Is there a fictional character you identify with? For me, reading Charlotte Bronte's Villette made me see that I am pretty much exactly like Lucy Snowe. I've had things in common with other fictional characters, but Lucy Snowe is the one that expresses so much of what I think and feel.
Warning: the following passages are depressing. Heh.
"This hag, this Reason, would not let me look up, or smile, or hope: she could not rest unless I were altogether crushed, cowed, broken-in, and broken-down. According to her, I was born only to work for a piece of bread, to await the pains of death, and steadily through all life to despond."
"No mockery in this world ever sounds to me so hollow as that of being told to cultivate happiness. What does such advice mean? Happiness is not a potato, to be planted in mould, and tilled with manure. Happiness is a glory shining far down upon us out of Heaven."
Which character are you and why?

I'd probably be my usernamesake, Nynaeve from the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. She's smart and feisty and doesn't take crap from anyone, but underneath it all, she's also a romantic.

Noone has probably ever heard of this character/person but I'd be Brian Boru (yes it's a guy). He's the main character in a book called " The Lion the ireland" by Morgan Llywelyn about Ireland's ancient high king. The author portrayed him with such strength of character that I'd love to be as strong as he was. and it's a great book. It made me want to visit Ireland.

In many ways, though not all, probably Claire Fraser from Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series - More than any other one character, anyway. And she has curly hair that sounds like it's about the color of mine!

LOL, yeah, her too - in a more honest, realistic modern-day way. If I'm honest, Claire's probably more the idealistic way I think I'd be if - I weren't always trying to quit some bad habit or other
- I weren't so good at wasting time at work
- I weren't pining after the wrong guy - or just wishing for one to fall for
. . . well, all the rest, too!

Claire Fraser.
Although, my age and mannerisms, I'd likely be more like Brianna Fraser. And that's okay, because Roger is a hottie, too.

I should also add that she's very stubborn and always thinks she's right (which is me, too). She has a hard time admitting she's wrong...LOL

If I were not married with children, I could see me as Kinsey Millhone from the Sue Grafton mysteries.
As me, probably Mrs. Weasley from Harry Potter.

I know it's not a deep novel but I would love to be Allie in The Notebook. I know a lot of people don't seem to like Nicholas Sparks. But I really love this book and the time period.

I love this book!!! and I knew who Brian Boru was before it. Partly because there is a large pub by that name that I frequent and part because I love Celtic history.
As for a character that resembles me....I have no idea. I think I'm much more a composite. Though the character that comes to mind first is Roger. I'm an historian too soon to be teacher (hopefully) love digging into things, and a musician, fiddler.
There's also a bit of Joe from Little Women in there.

A weird combo of Jane Eyre, Marianne from Sense and Sensibility, Jo from Little Women, and Elizabeth from Pride and Prejudice.
Most likely because I've been one of them at sometime or another in my life, but I wish I had the lessons learned turned out a little better like theirs.
