She's *so* cute, and sleeps through the whole interview and through constantly being petted! Looks to be a gentle dog who grew up in a friendly home, who's littertrained, that's a great start in life for a puppy. I'd take her! Why pass this amazing chance up, and it would make the boy happy too.

Ugh...why would we want to encourage more bumpkins to irresponsibly and indescriminately let their pets breed? Have these folks never heard of spay/neuter?

Hmm, this would be like the complete opposite of getting a rescue dog.

I'd hardly classify or label this family as bumpkins. You don't know the circumstances. They have 4 dogs; it might even be a breeder.

There's no such thing as a responsible breeder of labradoodles. They're not a breed! And they said this was the only surviving puppy of the litter... doesn't sound too good there either. Sounds to me like their unspayed dog accidentally got knocked up, and they're trying to get rid of the only puppy that was tough enough to live through their wonderful care. People like that are the reason millions of dogs are put down every year.

Thank you. Exactly. No responsible breeder breeds labradoodles. They're mutts. And how often does a responsible breeder lose all-but-one of a whole litter? Dogs that size can have 12-15 puppies...and they lost all but one?!?!? Big red flag that these folks are irresponsible bumpkins. Please don't encourage them.

What's wrong with mutts?

Labradoodles were originally a cross between the Labrador Retriever and the Standard Poodle, now they are a breed of their own.
These dogs aren't cheap. They sell for over $1K.
I, also, wonder why it was the only living pup out of the litter.

No, they are not a recognized breed, not by any reputable kennel club in the world. The reason they are not recognized, is because there are no consistant or predictable results from a breeding. It takes years and years to make a new breed, and none of the "doodles" are there yet.
These mutts do cost a lot, because greedy people are tricking gullible people into thinking it's a breed. Anyone who pays $1,000 for a mutt...well, I have some oceanfront-property in Arizona they might be interested in as well.

Nothing is wrong with mutts...but you don't go breeding mutts on purpose if you're any kind of responsible pet owner.

Nothing. We just shouldn't go out creating them on purpose when there's millions of them out there needing homes already.

They still are a cross betwen a labrador and a poodle. They're a mixed breed, ie a mutt. They sell for 1K b/c they're a glorified, fashionable mutt with a cute name, but a mutt nonetheless. The AKC doesn't do any kind of health testing or certifications on them, because well, they're not a breed. I could call my lab/pitbull mix a labrabull, but it doesn't make him any more special.

Aren't we assuming they had a larger litter here? Or that the dog was knocked up and they're trying to get rid of her because of the interviewer saying that his mom didn't want a fifth one?
Anyway, my understanding is litters can range from one dog up to 17(although if taking into consideration the two breeds that make up a labradoodle, the litter could have been around 7 or 8 ). Either way, we don't know the actual size, or if the family has a history of this, so to assume they're irresponsible "bumpkins" or breeders is pretty presumptuous. If they are....shame on them, and I'm sure that whomever is helping the Obama's in their dog search would take that into consideration, but geez. We're already labeling the folks who are trying to give the dog a home. Whether for publicity or not....if I were Malia or Sasha, I'd LOVE to have that cutie.

Yes, you are definitely going to Hades for that one. Why didn't you just adopt a mutt that was already made? Dang, you must have money to burn. Why not just get a cocker spaniel that bred with a cocker spaniel and spend 1000 dollars? Duh.
Bumpkins these days. Got no sense.
