I was demoing grilled cheese last week with Havarti and a new bacon that we have.

I had one pan frying bacon, and the panini press going for the sandwiches. The beautiful smell of frying bacon caused 3 vegetarians to fall off the wagon for a bit that day.

Lol!

I tell you what, that had to have been the hardest Demo I have ever done. I'm the Demo Lady because I talk a lot, and people buy stuff when I'm there, not for my cooking wizardry, lol. The crowd waiting for samples was much larger than my cooking speed capacity. The stuff wasn't hard to cook. Keeping up with the crowd was. One guy tried to reach right into the frying pan of bacon! ew.

The store smelled really good those two days though.

Couldn't help but laugh at this thread, as I'm currently eating quiche with bacon, leek, red pepper and chilies. Bacon is great. Even when I was a vegetarian I used to sneak bacon and not tell anyone...hehee

My man invited me to lunch the other day and when I walked thru the door I could smell bacon!!!
He made BLT's with thick crispy bacon, lettuce and tomatoes right out of the garden, a touch of Miracle Whip, and good old toasted white bread. Yum yum.

My sister is Jewish and when she comes to my house she sometimes asks me to cook bacon or ham so she can have just a bite. It's a hard addiction to break! : )

I made myself a bacon and egg sandwich last night.

It was so yummy!

OMG...I just had my first bad experience with bacon. I think my gallbladder is acting up again, but I didn't know it til after I had made bacon and scrambled eggs for dinner last night. I was UP-ALL-NIGHT with freaking bacon heartburn and a pain in my gut. I kept tasting bacon, and it wasn't good as a repeat.

I'm so sad. Logically, I know it was probably from my bum gallbladder, but I'm afraid I will psychologically associate the bad feeling with bacon and it might turn me away from the ambrosia-of-the-gods-bacon.

Ooo, I know what you mean. I can't abide coffee, honeydew or Oreos after having gotten sick after eating them - not at the same time or even the same illness, LOL. None of them had anything to do with me throwing up, but I don't think I've touched any of them since.

Maybe it'd do me good to get sick after eating bacon . . . cheesecake . . . macaroni & cheese - everything!

That would be the saddest thing ever to happen. Not to love bacon. But I sure can relate to gallbladder pain...AWFUL! I passed out once from it and I am very pain tolerant.

BTW-I was going to try my black bean veggie burger today (trying to so hard to be a healthier eater) and now all I can think about is grilled cheese and bacon, BLTs, and scrambled eggs and bacon.

I forgot I wrote that. I was going to add that I had three slices of bacon and toast for breakfast. It was just heaven.

I think I'm going to add that to my sigi line now.

I heard someone on TV the other day saying that the hydrogenated crap in veg shortening may actually be worse for you than lard anyway . . .

My mom used to only serve Sizzlean because the fat on real bacon squicked her out. She's clearly nuts.

I sometimes put crumbled bacon on pizza, and once in a blue moon I buy a package and make a few big breakfasts with eggs and biscuits and orange juice. Since that is not enough bacon for my SO, anytime we go out to eat he orders a burger or hot sandwich with bacon on it.

Hilarious! Since I don't see any of us giving up our bacon, I guess we're all "sorry people", too, LOL.
