oh, its soooo good....sounds a little weird I know, and its rich but yum!

I lay out club crackers on a baking sheet til its covered. raw bacon gets laid on top of that and then a pound (yes a whole pound, if your eating this it doesn't matter anyway!) of brown sugar sprinkled all over. Bake until bubbly and crisp looking, let cool and snap into pieces. OMG it is so good!

The Star Tribune (local paper) was giving away free Bacon Balm at their State Fair booth this year.

It smelled like maple syrup and tasted like nothing. I was so disappointed, there was nothing baconish about it.

That sounds like a heart attack on a cookie sheet. And I plan on making it real soon. : )

I was looking at awkward family photos and there was a picture three boys wearing bacon suits.

I HAVE to find it and post it. Hilarity!

Didn't read the whole thread (in case someone posted already) but I LOVE these little
appetizers.
I use the precooked bacon which saves a lot of time.
OMG they are so good.

At a new Whole Foods store grand opening they were giving out samples of a chocolate bar and they had different kinds. One was a choc bar that had bacon bits in it. It was very yummy-basically that salt/sweet thing.

Chocolate and bacon! Oh yea!
My new fantasy is to eat chocolate bacon and candied bacon WITH Kevin Bacon!

Was it a vosges bar?

I bought the bacon box for myself for my birthday. The bacon caramel toffee was really good.

rcc - that was it!!! I looked for it at a more local Whole Foods but they did not carry it. That made me sad! I loved the Barcelona one too!

I must admit that I was surprised to see Vosges at your WF as I've never seen it at mine. A local candy specialty shop carries some though.

If I lived in Chicago, I'd be at their flagship store all teh time!

Vosges is sold at every WF here. Plus a ton of other interesting-looking candy bars.
So I've decided to make some bacon jam. Both homesicktexan.blogspot.com and notquitenigella.com (two of my favorite blogs) featured their versions of it recently. That can't be a coincidence. The bacon jam is luring me toward its salty sweet deliciousness!

Look at that biscuit with it! I have some lard just waiting to be used for biscuits. And those biscuits will be topped with delicious bacon jam. *Eyes glaze*

Oooooh, it looks like liquid bacon!! It's not all that hard to do either but reading the recipe.

The chipotle version is probably a bit much for my wimpy spice palette, but the other looks good with the vinegar and syrup.

I will have to double check WF next time I am there. I know WF does things regionally, as we saw with some areas having Kinky Curly and others not having it. I guess the same applies with the Vosges bars. I may have just missed them.
