She probably wants attention. Does she have toys you could dangle for her?

My Moe loves to talk. He runs around the house screaming if ANYONE is walking around doing ANYTHING. I swear, if someone planted a tape recorder in my house while I was getting ready in the morning, all they would hear would be Moe yelling about stuff. Momma, I want food. Momma, I wanna drink from the faucet. Momma, I want to kill our shadow. Momma, why won't the dog play with me???? Momma, I need more food before you go. No, MORE food. No no no, MORE food. Yeah, and can I do in the garage? No? Why not? I wanna go in the garage. Well if I can't go in the garage then I want MORE FOOD. MORE FOOD!!!!!!!!!

He a delight.

Rosie talks to me but the creepier part is when she just sits and stares!! Ill be reading a book or playing online and look up and she is THISCLOSE just staring at me. Im know Im a good mom and everything but damn cat! Give me some space. LOL.

I love when cats talk to me! And if you had a recorder in my house all you would hear would be my cat-voice talking to Rosie and Fig...all morning

She just wants to talk and get some attention I would say.

Zoe loves to talk, all the damn time. As soon as I peek an eye open in the morning she starts a yowling at me and only gets worse as I get up. After she has had some food she quiets down for a bit then starts in because she wants me to throw her mouse for her.

I prefer that to the sitting and staring with her tongue halfway out.

My cat is basically silent. All she does is shed.

See, I tend to think of it more as whining than talking, because she only does it when she wants something.

My cat has a few annoying habits, though. She does the staring thing, but if I don't acknowledge her she pokes me, repeatedly, until I do or I move. She also likes to hide behind the long drapes in the living room & jump out to "surprise" us when we walk by. We've started referring to her as our bratty little sister.

this post is cracking me up. As I write my cat is howling to the moon. I can't figure it out either, attention? just wants to hear him self howl? whining? kitty senility? jealous of his other kitty housemates? Well he is a male so maybe he's just full of himself. He sits on the second floor landing in my house and howls away, the minute I give him attention he follows me around, and he keeps rubbing up against me until I pet him and if I don't...he'll nip me. Now that's "cattitude"...LOL...

I have a cat that likes for someone to watch him eat. He will meow and meow and want you follow him into the laundry room. So finally you think maybe there's no food and you go in after him, and he happily jumps up and starts eating. If you leave, he follows you out whining again. Weirdo!

Between the kid and all my pets, I've gotten very good at tuning out their noises lately.

Mine aren't all that talkative, but they each have their little vocal things. I don't know how Alexander tells time, but if it gets to be 4:30 and my SO isn't home, he sits in front of the door and meows that saddest meows ever. Rilo "talks" to Alexander sometimes - I think she bosses him around.

LOL! It is so funny when they just sit dead still staring at you without blinking for AGES! It can be a little unnerving My cats also yowl for attention- the cutest thing is just when they are making soft mewing and chirping noises to themselves. I like that my cats appear to be just as insane as I am and talk to themselves!

Ugh! Our new cat meows all.the.time.. It drives me nuts. We've tried the squirt bottle, but that doesn't work. He runs away meowing. He wants constant attention. Playing or petting, doesn't matter. I love this cat, but man......sometimes.......

My dog completely does that. She sleeps like 23.5 hours a day anyhow (that half hour, though, man, don't get in her way cause she'll bowl you over with all of her 19 pounds), but she moves around. While we're out she's asleep in her house, when we're home she's asleep on a couch, when we're in bed she's asleep in bed. And man, when she's ready to move from couch to bed, she lets you KNOW.

My Moe was the same when he was a kitten. Like I said, I found him abandoned in the street, and when I brought him home from the vet he was very shy (especially because of the dog) for about... I dunno, two hours? Might not have been that long. Once he got comfortable his first order of business was to sleep right on top of me, making me emotionally incapable of moving for 4-5 hours (who could make a adorable tiny kitty move after the day he'd had?!!?), and then announce that he was a TALKER and had THINGS TO SAY. He talks to everyone, too, both me and my husband, to the dog, to our guests, both family and friends, when we dog-sit for our neighbor's two golden retrievers (both big, beautiful, well behaved dogs) he talks to THEM, too.

He just... has stuff to say. I'll admit, I found it annoying at first (for a few months we had little choice but to shut him out of our bedroom at night, or else we'd get no sleep), but he figured out pretty quickly that if he talked to communicate, rather than just to hear the sound of his own voice, we were much more responsive. Now he's quiet as a mouse when we're sleeping, and just as chatty as can be if we're up and about. It's really very sweet.

He was officially booted out of the last persons bedroom last night!! We now all are sleeping with our doors shut. DH does not like to have our door shut all night - he likes to hear things - but not kitty things. Oh, and all round kitty toys with bells are put in a drawer at night.

My new-ish cat (got him last August) has a polite little meow, but when he wants attention or food, he is relentless! And I can't feed him constantly or he will get too fat. What an appetite he has!

Fortunately, he is quiet at night.
