I think my dream is real...please don't think I am crazy!

Let me start by saying that I (and many people I am close to) think that I am very...in tune to certain things. For example, I will think of a TV show and even a specific episode and it will come on next- same for songs. My mom and I sometimes have the same dream in a night. And much more...

Anyway, I dream of horrible things on a regular basis. Last night, I had a dream where I saw a man and woman driving an older model dark green van. The liscense plate started with "917A" or "91A7" or "91A8". I tried desperatly to remember the number but was soooooooo tired I forgot. I even woke my husband up to remember the number but this morning he said he forgot it.

Anyway, inside the van they had A BABY IN A CAGE. The baby was alive and the cage was not very big at all. It was barely big enough to fit the baby inside it laying flat. More like a trap of some sort.

My dream is bothering me SOOOOOOOO much. It felt so REAL. I have had real feeling dreams before- but nothing THIS real. I have heard of people who "saw" a real situation in their dreams. What if this is real and I saw it? I feel like I need to DO something- but since I forgot the plate number- what can I do? And, my husband said liscense plates don't usually start with numbers anyway. I feel so helpless. Am I crazy to think this was real? What would you do? Should I just "try" to dream about it again and see if I can get more "clues" in the next dream? Do you even believe in this kinda thing?

I have absolutely no idea what you should do :/ but I thought I'd pipe in that my license plate starts with a number. So it's obviously possible...

You're not crazy. I've had many instances like you've described. Thought of a song, commercial, movie, etc....and almost right afterwards, having those things come on.

As for your dream, there are many license plates that start with numbers. The fact that you COULD read it in the dream is telling. Most dreams, words and numbers can't be made out. I've had dreams where I could literally read any and everything, and woke up thinking wtf? LOL!

I'm not sure what to say about what to do. There isn't much you can do because at this point....it is JUST a dream, and you have nothing else besides that to go on. Unless you just happen to know a cop who can run plates. LOL!

Don't overthink it and try to dream about it again. If it's a premonition type dream, and you're someone that truly is in tune with stuff like this, you'll have another one.

In the meantime, just think of it as a bad dream. I've had some that felt TOO real, all the way down to the smells and the emotions, that freaked me OUT. Some where the emotions were so raw and intense, that I woke up crying. But they were just dreams. Oh, and I've found that if I eat sweets before I go to sleep, or too close to me going to sleep, I have weird dreams like that. LOL!

License plate norms vary from state to state, even from vehicle class to vehicle class. In Maryland, most vans and trucks have license plates that start with numbers but end with an M (or, in the last couple of years they'd have to move the M to the second to last digit).

That said, there's nothing you can do. Unless you're willing to file a false police report based on a dream, then you're out of luck.

Personally, I don't believe this sort of thing. I especially wouldn't condone you trying to pursue someone and accuse them of heinous crimes like child abuse and kidnapping. I might even suggest that you talk to a mental health professional about this, but that's me.

I'm one that believes in coincidences, but not in any psychic kind of stuff. I've thought of a song and it came on the radio. Thought of a name and then that person called me, even though they've never called me before. I don't think I am psychic...I think it was merely coincidental.

We have a lot of thoughts, dreams, ideas that come to us everyday...sometimes those things might happen in real life, but it doesn't mean we predicted them. There are plenty of thoughts, dreams, ideas that we have that don't turn out to be anything. Way more "misses" than "hits," so to speak.
If EVERY thought or EVERY dream of mine came true, then I would be freaked out...because the odds of that are way too rare. But an occasional thought or dream to be seems like normal odds.
That's just me.
You're not crazy...but I wouldn't report someone to the authorities without knowing for damn well sure that something actually happened.
It sounded like you had a freaky, bad dream.

It may ease your mind to think of your dream as symbolic. Looks up the symbols on dreammoods.com

Kidnap:
To dream that someone has been kidnapped, indicates that you are not letting aspects and characteristics of that person be expressed within you. You are trying to contain and/or suppress those qualities of the kidnapped person.

Cage:
To dream that you are in a cage, denotes that you are experiencing inhibitions and powerlessness in some areas of your life. You are feeling restricted, confined and restrained in a current relationship or business deal. Somebody may be keeping a short leash on you. You are lacking the freedom to act independently.?

Baby:
To see a baby in your dream, signifies innocence, warmth and new beginnings. Babies symbolize something in your own inner nature that is pure, vulnerable, helpless and/or uncorrupted. If you find a baby in your dream, then it suggests that you have acknowledged your hidden potential

Van:
To see or drive a van in your dream, symbolizes convenience and/or practicality. Consider the load that you are carrying and what you can handle. Don't stress yourself out.

Green:
Dark green indicates materialism, cheating, deceit, and/or difficulties with sharing. You need to balance between your masculine and feminine attributes.

8 (9+1+7):
Eight stands for power of authority, success, karma, material gains, regeneration, and wealth. When the number eight appears in your dream, trust your instincts and intuition.

9 (9+1+8 ):
Nine denotes completion and that you are on a productive path. Rebirth, inspiration and reformation. You are seeking to improve the world.

If after reading this you still find that nothing applies and your mind has not been eased, just keep your ears open for such a case. you're not crazy. I believe in the power of dreams

Slightly off topoc.... I've had those same numbers appear in a dream about my friend who died. i realized I was associating it with the area code 918, Sacremento, CA

And no, having dreams doesn't mean you need to seek mental health.

Folks who believe in the power of dreams and things that can seemingly defy logic and reasoning can see why you'd want to know what this means and whether there IS meaning behind it. I know I would.

ETA: Okay, a little story. It's not dream-based, but it's somewhat similar in terms of the numbers you saw. For about 6 months, I kept noticing, or looking at the clock at exactly 7:23. Every night, or almost every night. I had NO idea why, besides it being my birthday. On July 23, my uncle, whom was like a father to me, passed....on my birthday. I don't know if it was sheer coincidence that for months, I keep seeing this time. Or whether I was being prepared because when the phone rang that morning, I wanted it to be someone else.....but knew exactly what the call was for.

shellibean, dreams are rarely literal in their meaning (not that it can't happen - some are prophetic, it just isn't common). The way you feel in the dream is the thing to pay attention to. How you feel as you witness the images in a dream is a strong indicator that this feeling is dominant within you in your waking hours. If you watched the news the day before and some story really made you sick as you heard it, then your subconscious mind will relive that strong emotional reaction by bringing up other images that evoke that same feeling.

Listen, I don't believe in this kind of thing. I think intuition is one thing, a very real thing, but "seeing" the future? No go. That's my opinion. From that perspective, to say that you've "seen" something that hasn't happen sounds crazy. I'm sorry (kind of) if that offends you, but it's true.

I'll leave the subject alone from this point on if that'll appease you, because I didn't set out to offend you and it may be easier for all involved if I leave this discussion to those who are supportive of you believing something you saw in a dream could become reality. I say that not from a place of condescension but a place of wanting to stay out of a fight.

you need to lay off the ganja for awhile (and send some to me)
Where did I say it WAS prophetic? I mean, it could be... Also- I never said it was forseeing the FUTURE. I assummed it was the present... IF it was a real situation at all that is...

I hope for your sake (OP) that it wasn't prophetic, because that would put an enormous burden on you and could possible be traumatic.

I'd not focus on it too much, and think of it merely as a dream. What are the odds that it is prophetic if all the other dreams you've had were normal? Or have you actually experienced something like this before. If not, then I'd not beat myself up about it.

Maybe Lord Voldemort has invaded your mind.

Coincidences happen. Bad dreams happen. To all of us. Not just to those "in tune".
I have had small insignificant things happen that had been in my recent dreams, but like you said- it could have been a coicidence. Of course I don't think ALL of my bad dreams are for real. This speific dream though has been really bothering me since the moment I woke up from it. Like I KNEW there was something different about THIS dream. It is hard to explain... And yes- I do feel a bit obligated to the baby in this dream if that makes sense...

I should have titled my thread "I think my dream is real" instead of "I think my dreams are real" because I actually don't think they are- only this one for some reason... Maybe I will try to edit my title to clarify..

For your own future peace of mind, keep a notepad and something to write with by your bed so you can write down anything you dream before you lose it. I always soon forget my dreams, if I remember them at all, and there have been certain things I've wanted to retain that this helped with. Also things I think of just as I'm about to fall asleep.

The latter can be especially helpful with problem solving. That's when something I've been trying to work out often clicks for me, but if I don't write it down right then, I've sometimes lost the gist of it by morning. I also keep a little book light nearby so that I don't have to turn on the lamp and come completely wide awake again. I don't write an epistle, just a few words to make me remember in the morning.

Maybe think of it this way (for your peace of mind at least), if all the other things you were in tune to searched you out, then this will probably search you out IRL too. Hmm that wasn't that calming a message... What I mean is, I'd not go in search of it (that would be like carrying water to the sea). What could you be expected to do about this if it doesn't cross your path IRL? If IRL you see this van with those plates, then *maybe* you could do something... although I doubt it and attempting to would be so risky. But suppose that in the next few weeks you stumble upon a van like this in the parking lot, then what? Don't put your life in danger for a dream that might not even be fully true. What can you do? Call the police and tell them you saw this in your dream? So imagine that there you are, taking matters into your own hands, trying to break into this van and lo and behold there's no baby in it. Part of your dream might become true, part of it might be way off base. Then what? You could only get into major problems trying to pursue this. Dreams are just that, dreams, and they have a way of tricking you.
I am sympathizing with you. You must feel horrible. As others have said, no one will probably believe you, but your dream was so vivid. I hate to think a baby is being abused. We hear about it everyday & I always think of where I was and what I was doing. I wished I could of helped. Hopefully, you will dream about it again & get more details. Put a pad and pen by your bed, so you can write down more details. If you do get more info, give it to the police. They may think you are crazy, but you may be saving a baby's life. You never know. At least you will know you made an effort to save a life or to at least make sure this little one didn't have to suffer. The description of the vehicle & the license plate is vital to this. If nothing comes up, then you will know it was just a dream.
From Michael Berg:

Every person has a unique connection to the Creator that can never be extinguished, and every person has a great soul that can manifest important things in our world. To make a person feel less than they are because of something inside themselves, be it faith, race, or sexual orientation, is the greatest sin of all."
