Default H&M - sizes?

I don't have an H&M store nearby, but there's a coat on Ebay that I want to buy. I know H&M is not an American company so I am unsure as to the accuracy of their sizes. Do they run small or large?

I love H&M. They do run small though. I bought a dress there the other day at it is a 10, where I would normally wear a 6 or 8. I would suggest trying to find a measurement chart for the european sizing and go off that, their American to European conversion doesn't match.

I'll third it-- definitely small.

Stolen.

I would say the sizes run small and more importantly, they are pretty unreliable. I love H&M but I'm not sure I would risk buying something there without trying it on. You get a bit more lee-way with a coat vs a shirt or pants, but see if you can get more detail about the measurements.

MS makes a good point... I have a couple of 6s from there, and also have 10s and 12s.
