Such a hard question. It really depends on the person and the infection and how they are handling it.

1. If he's are telling me upfront about it, I respect that. It's a hard thing to bring up, esp. to someone you like.
2. You can still date and things without having sex to get to know the person. Esp. while things are clearing up. Then you ask to see the official results or you get him to let the doctor tell you he's clear.

If it happened while I was with them then buh bye.

Oh...and for the whole cold sore thing...it can be transferred to different areas. It's a different strain of the herpes virus.

I've had abnormal cells and been through all of that myself. I know what it's like to have to tell someone. The thing is with something like that, you may not know when you got it because it does stay in your system and you might not know until it starts to manifest itself. This is why REGULAR and COMPREHENSIVE paps are A MUST for every woman.

The title of the OP has been changed, obviously. Because in my post, on the first page, I alluded to "had," not "currently."
So many of the posts are responding to the original OP question.
I want to know how "newish" this "newish SO" is. I want to know how long this "newish" SO knew about it.
What I want to know...is this really a hypothetical question?

It just seemed strange to change the particulars of the question from "had" to "currently has" and I don't think "newish" was in the original title, but maybe it was...that part I can't remember.

Want to provide more details for this hypothetical situation. Like how long did this SO know about having an STD and did "I" already have sex with this person? What is the SO's attitude about this? Trust and respect plays a big role in a relationship...so these would be deciding factors for me.
