Not really - if you go from London to the West Coast you have to make an 8 hour shift! It's only 5 if you go to the East Coast!!!
Are you serious?
????

Yes. The time difference between NY and London is 5 hours. The time difference between LA and London is 8 hours.

A. I'm not sure why this is important to you. B. I know what the time difference is. In fact, I said that it's 5 hours. What I said was that jet lag for a 5 hour time difference is not much better than jet lag for an 8 hour time difference. Either way, it is all the same. England to NYC to LA to England is exactly the same as England to LA to NYC to England.

Again, I'm not sure why this is so important to you that you're using exclamation points and multiple question marks. Do you like telling people you think they're stupid?

I think that is my cue to excuse myself from this conversation. Have a nice night.

FWIW, it's obvious to me that you both are just completely misunderstanding each other.

And I'll step out of this now.

Agreed.

If you wind up in the Las Vegas area, it's not too far away from the Grand Canyon which is an amazing sight. Personally I'd say Grand Canyon > Las Vegas anyway but if you're in the general area whether on the west coast or near/in the South West, it's worth the stop.

I think most people would agree with this.......

EDIT: Here is a winking face, to show that I am joking:

Really! I have no problem with the mods

Who cares? If you have an issue with the mods, take it to them and leave it out of someone else's thread.

Huh? Not following you.

If you're complaining that no one intervened in the disagreement earlier in this thread, I probably would have done so if I had seen it when it happened, but I was off doing something in Real Life at the time.

You need to add winky faces or something when you joke...you have kind of a "serious" reputation.

Oh, I totally missed the joke. Subtleties sometimes go right over my head, I'm afraid.

K, I guess you just seem pretty serious to me and I recall this happening a couple of times before. But that doesn't mean it's you. It could be me.

This thread, which started out with such promise, is now just ... awkward.

Sorry Piglet! I hope you got some good info before things became so weird around here.

You can do a good trip in 3 weeks, but you can't see everything, this country is huge. If you have the $$$ I would start or end in NYC and if there is time add Boston and/or Washington DC.

I would then fly to San Francisco (very beautiful and so worth it). Drive to Carmel and through Big Sur. Stop for a day in Yosemite. San Diego might be a better option than LA. (Of course I am bias, I live in San Diego). It is very pretty and has a lot to do, also from San Diego you can drive to Las Vegas in about 4.5 hours or fly (about a 40 minute flight). From Vegas you can get a bus tour of the Grand Canyon (check online). You can also do the Hoover Dam (I didn't find it interesting, but most people do). There are also some red hills about 35 miles north of Vegas that are pretty cool.

Let us know about your trip when it is all planned!

Here's a story on SD written from a Canadians' point of view: http://www.canada.com/Travel/Diego+s...252/story.html

I second this. I like the Joshua Tree National Park (which I think is in either Palm Springs or San Diego) but I find LA as a whole kind of gross and smoggy, save for some of the colleges and beaches.

San Francisco is stunning, and I think it should be a must on any trip to the US. Yosemite is easily one of my FAVORITE national parks (and I say this as a person who absolutely adores national parks =P ). I honestly think there's just so much more to do and see in northern california.
