NY Post monkey cartoon

http://tinyurl.com/c4xqbn

What do you think? Is it based on the old Black person= monkey racist racist views or on the "A monkey could have written the stimulus package?"

I want to believe it's on the stimulus package deal. But, honestly the guy who came up with this can not possibly believe that his racial views wouldn't be questioned.

What else can it be? I'm seriously asking, here. Is there some political reference I'm not aware of?

It's a stupid move regardless, because no matter what the original intention you'd have to be an idiot to not understand the implications, but I'd like to know if I'm missing something.

I just saw this a few minutes ago. Whatever the cartoonist's intentions were, I find it really hard to believe- scratch that, impossible to believe- that someone working for a newspaper would be ignorant of the racial implications.

Of course- it is The Post. If it was a respectable paper instead of a total rag I might consider it something to get worked up over.

If the writing would have said "I guess Obama will have to find someone else to work on the stimulus bill" I may have bought it. The way this one is written seems like the "they" they're referring to is congress and of course the monkey working on it was Pres. Obama.

Yeah, even if it wasn't the intention of the cartoonist, someone working for a newspaper should be smart enough to know the possible implication behind it and the reaction that it could incite.

To me it is blatant racism. But it's done exactly what they wanted it to do. Everyone is talking about it and probably boosted paper sales. Disgusting.

The Post is owned by Rupert Murdoch...the same dude who owns Fox Noise er um News...the same guy who pays Bill O'Reilly's salary. It's racism. It's disgusting. And I wish people would stop buying that rag and put him out of business already.
The inspiration could have been the Infiinate Monkey Theorem, but give the ugly history of comparing black people to primates, it's over the line.
