Heal my blemish!

I have a strange situation occurring on my chin right now.

I had one of those deep, painful, headless pimples there the other day that eventually drained and was pretty well healed. Well last night I got a spider bite right next to it (and another on my leg-- needless to say I washed the sheets today!) and now I've got this awful swollen painful red sore thing on my chin. The spider bite part came to a head and popped earlier today so now it's just a sore left from that plus my reincarnated pimple sore.

I have a really good habit of getting weird bad pimples around holidays and other important events, like the party I'm going to this Saturday. (The first pimple popped up the day before Valentine's Day). Is there anything I can do to speed the healing process? I used Dove to wash my face this evening and used a gentle moisturizer on my face after my shower. I'm trying not to mess with it but is that all I can do? I have jojoba oil, vaseline, benadryl cream, and probably some salicyclic acid laying around somewhere. Probably even that sulfur treatment bye-bye-blemish stuff, too. Will any of that work? Anything I can run out and get? I've read that tea tree oil is good but of course I don't have any of that.

Help?

I would leave it alone, treat it gently, and use an ice cube wrapped in a wet washcloth to help reduce swelling and redness.

If you need a good concealer, Clinique's Advanced Concealer covers well.

So you think toothpaste will help it heal? I'm not worried about the swelling so much as I just want the skin to repair itself.

I'd be careful with toothpaste if you want to look good for an event. I just did a quick Google search and it seems the results are mixed. It can be very drying (not healing). Plus, you have to use the old-fashioned toothpaste, not gel.

I usually put oil on it. (any non-comedogenic oil that I happen to have on hand, which is usually castor oil.) it's hard to tell if that helps it heal faster because I've never done an experiment with two zits putting oil on one and not the other. But it does help it feel less itchy/less painful so that I am less likely to notice it. I don't think anyone else notices.
Toothpaste GIVES me pimples, so I don't think it would cure it.

I put a tiny bit of an prescription-strength Benzoyl Peroxide when I get a pimple. It heals it overnight usually.
Neosporin works really well whenever I have a sore or a popped pimple.

Take a zinc supplement. Zinc is needed for the body's healing process, so make sure your body has what it needs and healing will go faster.
I'm a big fan of the cream formula Neosporin for situations like this. I'd also try the sulfur treatment, and take an anti-inflammatory (ibuprofin) regularly. That'll help with the pain and the swelling.

certain toothpastes can actually create worse skin problems by leaving discoloration.

Code:

tried it, and it took ages to fade.
it sounds like you need something that naturally draws out fluids and toxins. try saturating several cotton pads in a solution of warm water and epson salt. place the pad directly on the problem area, replacing them as they cool off. be prepared that if there is something under the surface, the epson will bring it to a head, making your chin look temporarily worse before it looks better, but it will get all that gunk out.

castor oil also has good drawing properties, but in people who are sensitive to it, it can create its own set of skin problems.

Code:

tried it. took months to restore my skin.
good luck.

I have the same problem (with zits, not spider bites). It's strange because I went from having the clearest skin EVER from using OCM to the worst skin EVER! I've never had cystic pimples like this in my life! I had to switch back to proactiv and it seems to be clearing up a bit. Also, dabbing on tea tree oil seems to help with drying it out and reducing swelling.

Thanks for the suggestions... this thing just went to another level today. It is so painful! and swollen and... ugly. I don't think I've had anything quite like this; even the lymph node right below on the underside of my chin is all angry at me.

It's still leaking from time to time and overall just red and swollen and scabbed over. I'm really at a loss of what to do, so I've been putting a bit of Neosporin on it to try and keep the infection in check and I just took some Advil to reduce the swelling.

Well, I guess I'll just have to have an alien spore on my chin for this party on Saturday. What is it with my face and holidays???
