Default Epilator tips?

Quote:
Ingrown hairs happen when a hair grows back the wrong way, causing pain. The danger with this is that they can become infected, especially if you keep shaving or using hair removal methods before your skin has had a chance to heal.
My legs are extremely prone to ingrown hairs. I hate hair but can only shave once a week or else I get ingrowns. Then if I continue to shave they become a bigger problem.

I thought perhaps an epilator would be a good option. So I asked for and got the Braun Silk-epil for Christmas. Initially I thought it was great. So I did both of my legs. Then after a few days I had ingrowns all over my legs that were very itchy and somewhat painful. They took forever to go away.

Is there a way to prevent this from happening? Or epilating just isn't going to work for me?

I exfoliate 2 or 3 times a week with a sugar scrub.

Yep, exfoliating should help. Try it right before you epilate then every couple days after that.

This is what I do, with a dry brush, then every night before I shower.

I never got ingrowns in the many years I shaved but didn't like the stubble so bought an epilator. Better hair removal and less obvious regrowth but ingrowns constantly, drive me insane. The sugar scrubs do help but I still end up tweezing out some hairs.

Dont use them! They were designed by the devil, or the Nazis!

Just my personal opinion

I'm not sure about epilators, but I would suggest sugaring (like waxing, but less painful!)

Just my 2 cents!

You still get ingrowns with that. I only get them on my bikini line. I use tendskin, but I'm not regular with it. I'm a bit lazy about exfoliating and upkeep so I always get ingrowns.

I guess it varies from person to person because that is what I have had the best results with. Although, my skin is not as sensitive as the OP, because I can shave my legs everyday, twice a day if I wanted and never have a problem. Underarms and bikini are more sensitive but like I said, sugaring has been awesome for me.

I tried an at home sugaring kit once. Waxing/sugaring is definitely not for me.

What exactly is exfoliating?

Removing flaky skin or dead skin to make make skin softer and smoother.

You can use a natural bristle brush to exfoliate daily or weekly. There are gloves, microfiber cloths, sugar scrubs and a multitude of other products available to remove dead skin.
