Default I have a horrible smell in my nose...

Sounds weird, I'm aware.
But we are dissecting cats right now in Anatomy [which is just lovely by the way, coming from the girl who volunteers at the zoo...] and I absolutely cannot get this smell out of my nose. I'm thinking it's mostly psychological, but it is driving me insane.

It does not sound weird, because the same thing happens to me. I have to use a saline nose spray or something. I recently bought the Neil Med nasal irrigation thingy (works like a neti pot) for general health use. I bet it works great to get rid of smells.

Yep, I second the saline nose spray (although I hate the feeling).

There's nothing quite like an anatomy class, is there? What really got me, smell-wise, was the sharks. That liver is something else. The smell gets everywhere! Through the latex gloves, onto your skin; in your hair (how, I don't know). It took literally weeks of washing over and over to get it out of my lab-coat. And the only reason I didn't go stark-raving mad was the nose spray.

I hope it works for you too.

Oh, I remember comparative anatomy...We did our dissections without gloves. They didn't supply them back then. And yes, the shark liver was the worst. A whole semester of being smelly.

I remember trying Herbal Essence shampoo to cover up the smell on my hands. Then the shampoo smell started making me feel sick.

I've dissected fetal pigs and frogs. Yes, the formaldahyde smell does seem to inbed in the nose for a few days. It'll go away. Wear lots of perfume.

I wonder if sniffing coffee beans would help...like they do in department stores in the perfume area.

I remember in high school having to make a steak and kidney pudding. I could not for the life of me get that kidney smell out of my nose (or head, maybe!). Disgusting stuff, I can't imagine cats, yuck. Sympathies.

Yup, I was just going to say that - it was the formaldahyde smell that I couldn't shake back in the day when we were dissecting in class. It does go away, but it's pretty gross in the meantime.

Oh, I've dissected so many things. My school is apparently dissection crazy.
In freshman year we had to dissect worms [not much to see. Tubes and dirt mostly.], Frogs [Also did that in 8th grade, much worse then.], Fish [twice.], sharks, squid, fetal pigs [I couldn't cut it, it made me too sad.], we didn't do any last year because we were in chemistry, but some of the kids this year did sheep eyes which I could not do. I've always had a weird eye thing, which was only made worse by watching Un Chien Andalou. Ugh.
The cats has definitely been the worst though. They smell awful, I nearly passed out. And, to top it all off, they still have their fur. We have a little siamese. It's. So. Depressing.

Oh, and I do think Rainshower is on to something.

I bought aromatherapy sticks once from a little boutique. Vanilla, Orange...they had several scents. You sniffed them and they were supposed to evoke peacefulness or suppress your appetite. They kind of worked, possibly by the power of suggestion.

Those, or use Vicks Vapor Rub.

How about getting the smell off of your hands? I've washed them, used hand sanitizer, lotion, everything.
Now they smell like perfumed latex, formaldehyde and dead cat.
[I actually had to dissect today. It was really terrible. And this is going to last a few more weeks... I bet they'll smell wonderful next week.]
