Tell me I am not the only one who rocks the Banana Clip
Yes, thats right. I LIKE banana clips. I wore one today and some of my classmates were amazed. These things were so popular when I was a kid.
I think they are so adorable in curly hair

LOL! I love them too!! I had someone ask me the other day where I get them...like they were a new thing. I remember them being popular years ago too. I've used them on and off for years.

Ha! just wait for the responses. This is an anti-banana clip website.
I loved them too. You're young so go ahead and wear them. Call it retro if you want. Sadly on me, I realized I looked like I was stuck in the 80's.

I'm ok with that! There were a lot of curlies in the 80's. You can barely tell what it is in my hair through this mop called hair.

I think they're coming back, as with everything 80s. I can't wear them though, I break 'em every time...

the stores still sell them, so i guess people are still wearing them. i just think they aren't wearing them up high like this or . these styles are circa '86-'87 and should not be revisited. in highschool, a boy told me i looked like a
when i wore my banana clips. what did he know? i'd perfected that curly, high banana pony tail style and had 15 different colors and sizes for every outfit. hmmmph!

I have to agree with YolyC. Not that I am against banana clips, but if you wore them the first time they were cool, trying again just looks like you are stuck in the 80's. But you are definately young enough to pull them off!

Had to image google and actually make sure I knew what they were. Found this. It looks like it can lend a nice effect in the bottom picture. Kinda want to experiment with one now...just wouldn't tease my curls like the top pic. Although that could just be her curl pattern.
This look but definitely with less of a perm pattern to the curls would look retro...either stuck in the 80s, or channeling the 80s depending on the rest of the context. I'd do it (latter ) but I kinda like using retro elements. Guess coming of age after the time being channeled is pretty key.

Hehe, the first time they were cool I believe I might have been between the ages of 4-8.
I am 22 right now, almost at the cut off I guess.

I tried to wear them in the 80's, but I have way too much hair, and they would break. It used to piss me off, because I thought they would look cute on me. I tried MANY different types, and none were ever big enough. I don't think they've made them any bigger for the 00's, so I still won't be wearing them.

Hey, big shoulders are making a comeback, so why not banana clips?
Ah the 80s...a curlyhead's dream decade.

I didn't even know they still made banana clips! I don't think I've seen one since about 1987!

Maine is probably behind in style times, but I remember many women wore them right into the early 90's.

speaking of hating scrunchies, what about the fabric-covered banana clips? i had a love-hate relationship with these.

trust me when i say you are fortunate. even for those who were true to the banana clip cause, the fabric-covered ones were a bit much.

NOOOO! Not the dreaded shoulder pads! I am cool with banana clips, but shoulder pads served no purpose whatsoever. I just don't get it.
Anyway, I haven't had a banana clip FOREVER. I remember wearing one and it would always dig into my head and give me a headache- so I don't think I cared much for them. I like the pic with the high banana-clip style though.

I am afraid SuZen is right, I saw a recent coverage of a runway show, and big shoulders was the theme apparently.
I remember being about 6 years old and cutting the shoulder pads out of my shirts. Glad I had fashion sense at such a young age.
