sorry, major whining..

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

And this, my curly friends, is why you start talking up your birthday online and in real life and every place else about two weeks prior. I'm completely shameless about it.

From Michael Berg:

Every person has a unique connection to the Creator that can never be extinguished, and every person has a great soul that can manifest important things in our world. To make a person feel less than they are because of something inside themselves, be it faith, race, or sexual orientation, is the greatest sin of all."

A few years ago I decided I'd tell the important people in my life what I wanted to do for my birthdays. I haven't been disappointed since. You have a wonderful, caring heart, and seem to derive a lot of joy in showing that to people in your life. There's nothing wrong doing the same for yourself. I like ADs suggestion to take yourself to the spa for a great birthday.

We have the same birthday! I didn't expect anyone here to wish me Happy Birthday because I lied about my bday...I think I said it was the 1st or 2nd of February. When I first joined, there was this guy kinda stalking me...he was an ex who seemed to show up everywhere I was at. He never threatened me and he eventually left me alone after I didn't return his calls for about a year...but I didn't want him to somehow find out about this site. That's why I'm hesitant to put my picture up.
Anyways, it was my 38th birthday...not yet the milestone.
But I know how you feel. A few people (in real life) remembered my birthday, but it was strange who remembered and who didn't. My father and my mother remembered, thank goodness. My brother whom I'm least close to remembered. But my other brother forgot! My friends forgot! My husband remembered (he better!). The strange thing was two of his friends remembered and went out of their way to call me and wish me a happy birthday. That touched me! It really did. No one at work knew and I didn't care to tell them. LOL
To me 38 is just a number...but I expect EVERYONE to remember when I'm 40.
If I were you, I'd be a Diva for this one time (I assume you're not normally a Diva)...and gripe to them about how they forgot your birthday. The nerve of them!!
That's right, I said it! I wear scrunchies!!

Most middle-aged folks I know don't care about birthdays anymore. I know I don't. I barely remember my own, let alone anyone else's. It's just not something I think about. So, if you are one of my real-life friends that I have snubbed...I'm sorry. I can't help it.

Oh, and Happy Birthday.

Take comfort in knowing they'll all, especially your husband, mother and sister, probably feel like kicking their own collective arses when they realize they let a milestone one go right by without so much as acknowledging it .

I'm sorry they forgot your special day. I would whine too.

I don't want a big fuss over my b'day, but I do like it to be acknowledged. I usually get a few phone calls from cousin, BIL, ILs, etc who sing Happy Birthday to me. DH had better not forget!

We usually go out for dinner on our birthdays. No big parties, although son wants one this year. (he gets parties, just small)

Happy belated Birthday to you Sherry! and to Boomygrrl too!

Thank you again for your sweet replies and support. I really appreciate it.

I told my husband that I did not want a party or anything major. Of course he and my son did remember! My husband asked if he should have contacted my friends to remind them, but I told him not to.

Thanks !
Sherry

Boommygirl, I'm so sorry-I just saw your post. Belated Happy Birthday and hugs to you, too!

I"m very quiet and low key, and hate being the center of attention, so I didn't want anything major. I'm a student right now (online program) so there aren't any co-workers to remind...when I was working, I was always the person who made cakes or got flowers for other people...one guy I made brownies for actually jokingly complained that I should have made more-he offered to buy ingredients for another batch (they were chocolate chip cheesecake brownies, which are SO good...)

I'm not sure what to say. You had a lot of people remember your special day, from where I sit — what, at least seven, right?

I guess it's all relative.

And Happy Birthday to you!
I think she's upset because she remembers people's birthdays and they aren't remembering hers, especially her 40th birthday.
For me, my one brother and my friends are on my ***** list...no, not really. But my husband's friends ROCK. I kind of consider them my friends too...and after yesterday, there should be no "kind of" about it...they are my friends. So two of my NEW friends remembered. To heck with the other ones. But you better believe...two weeks before my 40th, I'm going to be hinting and I will not be shy about it. LOL
