Default I Feel PRETTY Certain I Wouldn't Do This...

... but it's happened before, so there must be some kind of group mentality that takes over or something.

Quote:
MANCHESTER, N.H. -- A Hazmat call to a Manchester Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant was determined to have been sparked by a hoax call, police said.Firefighters were called to the restaurant on Hooksett Road because employees reported eye and skin irritation from a fire extinguisher.

When emergency crews arrived, they found three employees disrobed outside of the building.

The employees told police that the restaurant got a call from someone claiming to be from corporate headquarters who asked them to test their fire suppression system. When they did and reported that they had chemicals from the extinguisher on their clothes, the caller told them they needed to take their clothes off.

The workers said they became suspicious when the caller then told them to urinate on each other.

Two officers were sent to a hospital for treatment from being exposed to chemicals inside the building, and two employees were also treated at a hospital. The third employee refused treatment.

Police said they are investigating the incident as a criminal matter. The restaurant was closed until health officials could determine that it was safe to re-open. KFC released a statement saying it was cooperating with the investigation.
What this story does not say, but what I heard tonight on the local news, is that the employees were not the ones that eventually called police. It was someone in the parking lot who noticed someone naked inside the store.

I don't understand.

I love that they only got suspicious when they had to urinate on eachother.

wth?! I am NOT getting nekked in front of any fellow employees. I don't give a crap WHAT the story is.

And they weren't the ones who called the police?! What kind of people work at that KFC? They just stand outside of KFC naked?

Heh.

I couldn't laugh, not when I saw the employees wrapped in firemen's blankets looking utterly humiliated. I can't help but think it's pathetic, but like I said, maybe there's some kind of group mentality thing that takes over.

You're a very compassionate woman. Maybe if I saw them, I'd feel the same as you. Idk...I can't help but think maybe it's the kind of employee KFC tends to have that's also coming into play here... No current or former KCF employees flame me! I'm just sayin!

It's amazing that this kind of thing still happens. After that story involving the McDonald's (or was it BK) manager and employee, which was unbelievable in the first place, you'd think people would use common sense. Even without precedent, it's beyond belief that people fall for this sort of thing.

Ever hear of the Milgram experiment. In his experiment something like 65% of people were willing to blindingly follow the orders of a perceived authority figure.

Actually looking through it, the strip fast food prank is actually listed in the article.

It is funny.

On the other hand, it's sad. I saw a Dateline or similar show where they said that this happens at fast food restaurants because the people are generally young, inexperienced, and/or uneducated. They are hired to do what they're told and not ask questions. This sort of thing preys on that type of person.

Oh. Well now I feel like an elitist ass for thinking it was funny.

I'm sorry. I did say it was funny. And I admit I chuckled until I remembered the Dateline story.

No, don't apologize. You're right.
