Speaking of where you're from: I wanna know what y'all sound like...

cool idea! but I have no audio of myself...

I always thought I had no accent and was a little cocky about it because the Pittsburgh (where I'm from) accent/dialect gets no respect. [See: "The Stillers did it, baby!" thread]. That was until I spoke with a fellow from Canada who correctly pegged the accent I didn't think I had and said to me, "Oh, where's your accent from? The Northeast US, eh?"

I don't think he guessed I was from Pennsylvania, but I recall being so mortified that maybe he did and I just blocked that part out.

I hate my voice. My sister and I sound very similar.
It's Midwestern twang with a Chicago influence, but not the Jesse Jackson Chicago sound or the part of Chicago that says "RAD e a tor" Instead it's "ray dee a tor"

I hate myself on video. This damn thing took like 25 takes for me to get it right, and they ended up writing the last part because I kept flubbing it up.

the sound of my voice on any audio device works my nerves. haha. I think that's why I'm more comfortable on stage rather camera. Anywhoo I've been making hair videos for youtube and here's one with me being silly in the kitchen

Hehe, I have a Mainah's accent! Very different from a Boston accent despite what people think.

My name is Cahmen, and I live on a fahm.

Thats pretty much how I sound...

Do any of you have a clip of yourself saying something? I have everyone's "voice" in my head & I doubt they sound at all like I think.

Both you and amandacurls have texan accents when I read your posts but yours is more bubbly sounding, if that makes sense. (probably not LOL)

Some posters do not have a voice but mannerisms when I read their posts. I see instead of hearing them.

My voice is weird. When I'm happy and smiling, it's high pitched but when I'm sarcastic or angry it's low. I've never actually imagined you guys' voices in my head; everyone has the same tone: mine.

I don't have any audio. I have been told that I have a Canadian accent. Something about the way I say my o's. Someone once told me that I sounded like the movie Fargo, I was a little offended because that movie exaggerated the accent!

I do not say you betcha, or uffda, nor do I wear the elmer fudd hunting hat!

Last year in Nashville, I had many comments made about my accent, and I kept thinking I don't have an accent you do, lol.

I don't think I am high pitched either. Certain words the accent is stronger than others. I will have to record myself and post it.

My voice is deep - I think-at least it sounds that way in my head. I have also been told I do not have an accent (and this was from customers from the South) even though I was born and raised in NH. I think I have been influenced by the SO and his very Boston accent in the past 9 years though.

My friends and I call my mom's answering machine when we know she won't be there to hear my stepdad's amazing northern NH accent - very similar to a mainah accent (see CurlyHairedFarmer's post). My sister has her friends call it too - no one believes us so they have to hear it.

Nope.
My accent is 1/2 northern and 1/2 southern. Born in RI and lived there until I was 14 and then moved to GA and been here for 20 years. It's a crazy accent. I do pronouce my R's and don't say "cah".
Meghuney is the only one on here that's heard my voice before. She can vouch for my Texan accent!
