Can I shrink my jacket?

I have a Nike ACG jacket that is a little too big and was thinking about trying to shrink it. I can't find an exact picture of it online but it's a full-zip jacket that has a smooth fabric on the outside and blocked fleece on the inside

(similar to the insides of these: )

^^ That's not my jacket, just an example of what the fleece inside looks like. The outside is heaver than the above jackets.

Anyways, I was thinking about washing/drying my jacket to see if I can shrink it ever so slightly. I really like it but I hardly ever wear it because it's just too big.

The outer fabric is 60% polyester, 25% acrylic, and 6% wool. The inside fleece is 100% polyester, and the little stretchy side panels are 78% polyester and 22% polybutylene.

The care instructions say dry clean only. Would it be totally dumb to try and wash this sucker to get it to shrink up? If it's worth a shot, how should I do it? Hot wash and regular heat dry? Warm wash, tumble dry low? Just dry it, standing by the dryer the entire time so I can check it every 2 minutes so it doesn't shrink too small?

What'd ya'll think?

Polyester fleece does not shrink, so even if you manage to get the outer layer to shrink, the inner layer won't. So, it will be funky.

ETA: I totally sympathize with you on what-to-do about clothing that is too large. I deal with this all the time, since I never seem to stay the same weight. My solution: save it til I get fat again, because it always happens.

Unfortunately, there's neither enough wool, nor any cotton, so the chances of shrinkage are slight to non-existent. Sorry!
Fiddlesticks. I figured as much.

I wonder why it's dry-clean only, then, if there's little danger of it shrinking?

Thanks for your input!

It's annoying. I'm with you.

I was thinking because of the nap of the fabric.
