Who else doesn't like the beach/water/sun

I have not worn a bathing suit in public since I was probably 12 or 13, even with my friends. But if I did I think I would love the beach.
Hair Type: 3a/b/c
at first i was thinking, "what evil person doesnt like the beach/water/sun???" but then i realized one of the things i hate about going to the beach is the wildlife. im afraid of fish, jellyfish, crabs, etc. so im not too fond of frolicking on the beach. i loathe cold water. if its cold, im not getting in. and if the weather is above 78 degrees, im usually miserable. i can feel my skin baking. not fun.

so even though i enjoy the idea of beach/water/sun, the conditions have to be perfect for me to enjoy myself.
Saltwater makes my skin itch and makes it feel dry and rough--likes it's coated with a layer of salt.

My favorite "beach" experience wasn't even at a beach, it was on Lake Ontario. There was sand, a few tiny "waves" and the water was freshwater. My skin felt great and my eyes didn't sting. I wish I could do something like that again without driving for an entire day.
I don't like swimming in the ocean, but I do like looking at the ocean. I'm not much of a swimmer, I"m more of a floater (as in, floating in the pool in my backyard with a beverage and a book). I'm very fair, so sitting in the sun for hours at a time is a no go for me. If it's not too hot, I could maybe sit on the beach for a couple of hours if I"ve got a good book. Otherwise it's boring.

(Unless it's late at night and warm enough to be out on the beach late. I love the beach at night. Probably has something to do with hating people and crowds.)
"And politically correct is the worst term, not just because it’s dismissive, but because it narrows down the whole social justice spectrum to this idea that it’s about being polite instead of about dismantling the oppressive social structure of power.
Fun Fact: When you actively avoid being “PC,” you’re not being forward-thinking or unique. You’re buying into systems of oppression that have existed since before you were even born, and you’re keeping those systems in place."
Stolen.

OMG - I could not live without the ocean. I live 2 blocks from the beach and that is not close enough for me.

I love the smell of the sea, the warm ocean breezes, the feel of the sand, playing in the waves and just watching the tide come in and a beautiful sunset over the horizon.

All while drinking a nice tanquery and tonic with a lime.

Count me among those who think you people are CRAAAAZY!!!! IMO the ocean is just about the most beautiful, relaxing thing on the face of the earth. Just listening to the waves lap against the shore, and smelling the sea air... If I'm with the right people, or at least have a good book, I could spend all day at the beach. Alas, I hardly ever go... the beaches that are easy for me to get to are pretty nasty. And my husband hates the beach, so it takes a lot to get him to drive me to another one... and then I just have to listen to him b*tch the whole time, which kind of kills it.

Y'all are crazy but I've noticed a lot of people dislike the beach(including most of my friends). I LOVE the beach. I'm in the water most of the time, love the water but it's gotta be good at least almost clear water I don't lay out much though unless I'm trying to nap. I like being the water most of the time. Waves are really fun too. I love the sun, and I like tanning a little(which I do easily and still need an umbrella or I get tooo dark) because I get a very nice bronze/caramel glow and it dries out my eczema and makes my skin look more like one color. The salt water is also great for my skin. My favorite is falling asleep on the beach, so relaxing. I so wish I lived closer to a beach .

also i love how the sand would lightly exfoliate the bottoms of my feet....just another perk...

but i can understand why people don't enjoy the beach...i won't go so far as to say they're crazy...we all like what we like and don't like what we don't like...

I went to San Diego last spring, it was too cold to go the beach but it didn't seem like the beaches would be that nice. Venice beach seemed okay. I still prefer the Florida beaches.

I am like so drawn to the water, the beach and sunshine. Even if it's just a lake, I love being in the water and right around it. I'm only a fan of snow for a little while, after that it's too inconvenient to me. I don't think I'd like skiing......
i loooooove, the beach, but NEVER tan, so i sit under a big umbrella when i go and i'm not in the water.

I don't like playing or lying in dirt, sand, mud, or soil.
I love the beach, but dislike tanning intensely. So, I don't bake. I wear hats and sunglasses and I play in the surf a lot, and when I'm done with the water, I sit under an umbrella. I walk and collect shells too. I don't spend all day there...a couple hours and I'm done. The best thing about a beach vacation is the evening ocean breeze when you're on your way out to dinner. Drinking in an evening ocean breeze is fun too.

I HATE snow sports. Too cold. Skiing is stupid to me.

I like the idea of snow and looking at it better than the actuality. Have never really done any snow sports other than sledding/toboganning, and a little bit of that and I'm done.

I like the *idea* of the beach. I don't so much like the reality of it. It's hot and windy and the only way to cool off is to go in the water, which is full of seaweed and jellyfish.

i was at a yoga retreat in the bahamas a couple of weeks ago. the beach wasn't too crowded (even with atlantis up the way), and the waves were beautiful. walking along the beach at sunrise and sunset: heaven.

Anywhere on the Gulf can be this way at times. Same over my way at Gulfport, Destin, Panama City, etc. Other times it can be perfectly beautiful. One of my favorite places to be is Seaside, FL near sunset when there's no seaweed or dead fish.
