Maybe because the second time around seems to be asking for attention to the situation? That's the first thing that came to MY mind. Especially since there are other ways to handle it.

Yeah, like I said, that could very possibly be the situation. I can kind of understand that.

It just really struck me how different the reaction is. Night and day. Personally, I don't see the point in posting it up like this, but I don't think HC deserves some of the scathing comments she's received as a result. *shrug*

If not, why not just them one saying what you said on here, it's obvious that they'd read it. Or, you could have just ignored it and moved on?

I understand that if it's harrassment, you'd want mods to know, but I am not understanding why you'd bring it up here for all to see.

Not being snarky, just curious.
You mean nosey- I know I am!
LOL! I love it! Spider...the only one to tell it like it is!! I appreciate your honesty, Spider!

To the NC.com self-appointed ethics police...luckily I couldn't care less what you think. Your collective assessment of my motives is of no interest to me. RCW...you have GOT to be kidding me!!! GTFOH! Pot? Meet Kettle. Inflammatory? You wrote the handbook on that.

This person did something inexcusable and used the board to wrongly publicly (and via PM) inflame some very raw emotions at my expense once upon a time. This is something I will never forget, nor will I ever forgive. I actually lost sleep over it. At that time, I did seek Gretchen's assistance in dealing with the situation, which she quickly diffused, and I was able to debunk the ridiculous allegations of the PMer. If I wanted to be truly inflammatory, I would have told THAT whole story here, complete with names.

The quickest way to douse these thread fires is to remove the fuel. With each "ITA with so and so" posting, this thread is bumped right back up to the top of the page. So, it's difficult for me to believe that it's that distasteful. Spider nailed it. I'm sure the PMer will inevitably satisfy some of your curiosities by looking to some of you for support, thereby revealing the identity. Be patient.

Oh, and BTW...good one nynaeve77. Yet another RCW Pot-meet-Kettle moment. Love it!!
Sorry honeycurls... I am guilty of having bumped this because I though the "board police" comment was hilarious... and I think your comments above are pretty funny too! Gotta love a woman with guts who's not afraid to tell it like it is. You do what you gotta do...

I think you're blowing what I said out of proportion. I just thought it was a particularly trivial reason for people to gang up on a poster, and ganging up on a poster really only works if that poster is offline. I did not make any suggestions or demands regarding others' behavior, so I don't know where the "board police" thing comes from.

Lots of people here are criticizing what the OP wrote. Why can't I state my mild annoyance with what they wrote? And you may (or possibly may not) remember that I have a reason to sympathize with people experiencing PM craziness.

Nope, not necessarily - people have been ganged up on many times when they are on line as well.
I think your remark came off as policing the board because of the "oh come on" which seemed dismissive and contemptuous of other peoples' opinions.

If you put someone on your Ignore list they can't send you PMs. At least, I think- that's the way it works on other boards, anyway.

See, now, if putting people on ignore didn't get such a nasty rap around here, perhaps we wouldn't be having this delightful conversation.

I still vote +1 for this thread. Friggin hilarious. But then again, I'm a hater. Always have been.

Or you can just PM Eilonwy before making any posts to make sure you get her personal approval. Of course, if she doesn't like you PM'ing her, then she will start a thread much like this one. Good times.

And don't you have to scroll down to the bottom of the index page to see who is logged on... if they haven't set it to private?

Once I'm on the non-hair discussion forum I don't usually go back to that page.

I don't think putting people on ignore gets a nasty rap... I think posting "SEE THIS IS WHY I'M GOING TO PUT YOU ON IGNORE" gets a nasty rap, and justifiably so. I am sure the people ignoring people without saying a word about it are not getting a nasty rap.

ITA Amneris. Saying out loud "I'm putting you on ignore" is an attention seeking behavior. Whether Honeycurls meant to get attention by posting this thread, it sort of comes across that way. (I don't mean any offense by that statement.)

Yes that is exactly what I am defending. Me and my mysterious cleek of "others".

"ganging up"? That is what annoys me. HOW is anybody ganging up? I have not spoken to Amneris, Geeky, Amanda or M2LR in ages. But then again..you know that crazy group of ladies. That group of Amneris, Geeky and M2LR. They are ALWAYS getting together and ganging up on people. Always agreeing and spouting their nonsense in agreement with each other. PLEASE.

If anything, we just all happen to have the same opinion.

IIRC, it was the notion of putting people on ignore at all that got that thread last year all hot and heavy. I for one am 100% in favor of putting people you don't like or who annoy you on ignore, though I wouldn't ever ever ever ever tell that person (in public, no less!!) that I was doing it. And never have. Simply admitting that I had used it ever was grounds to call me out. I don't care if people think I'm lame for using it, whatever. I just think it's interesting, is all, that the exact feature that's villianized is the one that would have saved us from this thread.
