I call Gracie's kennel her "house"....sounds less like a cage and more like her safe place...

Gracie liked to play with old socks too when she was teething. I still let her "help" me by carrying them from the bedroom to the living room some mornings.

The kennel is a lifesaver. He gets cranky if he doesn't get a full nap and he can't sleep in the livingroom because the cats wake him up too often. They just want his bed.

He loves that sock. He leaves our shoes and socks alone as long as that one is in sight.

Now I wish she liked her bed!! It's more of a decoration or extra padding on my floor! She sleeps in my bed with me and when we're awake, she's usually on the couch.

It's a good thing she's an indoor dog or my house would stink from her laying all over it!

I'm pretty sure my house stinks from my dogs sleeping everywhere, but I'm so used to it I can't smell it anymore.

Finally a use for old, tired socks

I can't really endorse this, you can potentially teach bad habits and whatnot, but the BEST socks are the ones that get pulled right off your feet! Yum!

We've got it down so that the boy might give a sock a tentative tug if he wants to play, then we replace the good sock with a dog-ready sock. He can pull it off the foot without biting our toes. For extra fun and merriment and flummoxing, you can put the sock on HIS foot.

You can also put a tennis ball in the foot of the sock!

Or you can put your hand and arm in the sock and have the sock put up a fight (but with a young puppy, again, that's asking to be bitten and it does send mixed messages so proceed at your own risk)

See, now, that's hours of fun right there!
