I have a friend who cannot say NO! RANT!

Ok..me and two other friends are going to a March Madness Party in Boston on Thursday night. We are staying over (we do this annually) and on Friday we will go to breakfast and do some shopping - no set time to head back home. They are picking me up as I am on the way. Two newer employees-male and younger - in their mid 20s - us ladies are all in the late 30s and 40s (the party is done by a company we do business with so all our employees are invited) are also going but driving done on their own and I 'assumed' driving home on their own. Well, one of my friends emails me and the other friend saying - 'Joe' will be spending the day with his girlfriend who goes to school in Boston so 'Mark' might be coming home with us. WHAT?? WHY??? Does he know we do not have a planned time to come home? Will he be following us around like a puppy all day Friday? So I shot her an email and said stop inviting strangers!!! She emailed back and said - he asked - what was I supposed to do? Uhh....say no? I am just so annoyed - this has always been a girls night out and next day shopping thing. Anyways - I emailed her back and asked if he knew we hung around during the day shopping, etc? I have not heard back yet. The other friend is also annoyed and she said she would ask the same question. Why is that some people just have such a difficult time saying No? All she had to say is that we do not know when we are coming back - it might be better if they (the two guys) drive down in 2 cars.

ARRRGHHHH! I had a bad day back at work after being off 3 days last week and this just made it even worse! End of Rant.

I agree that this could have been avoided if instead of saying "yes", she had explained what you guys normally do that friday. He probably would have found another way home if he felt like he was intruding, or that he was going to be bored. OR if he is ok with hanging out with you ladies, I don't see why not? The more the merrier?

Or said something like, "we have plans for the next day. Can you catch a ride back with someone else?"

Your friend put you all in a tough spot, since you all work together. She should have checked with the rest of the group, at the very least.

I hate it when "friends" tag along... Maybe "Mark" will meet somebody at the party, and then you won't have to worry about transportation...

I'm mean. I would have screamed NO!!!!!!!!!!! And emphasized my point wildly as she was on the phone. I don't like stuff like that, it makes me crazy.

I can't stand when people don't speak up! My friend agrees to everything and then at the last minute tells us that she has to be somewhere else or has to work or whatever. She is telling the truth about what she has to do, but it woudl have been nice to know BEFORE we made palns or to have said, "Sorry, I can't- I have to____" instead of "Yeah, count me in!"

Sorta update. My other friend asked the one that did the inviting - does he know we have breakfast and then do some shopping??? The friend who invited him goes - oh yah - I forgot that we don't always head right home? How the heck can you forget that?? She also has a tendency to like guys around her so that probably did not help the situation! She said she was going to tell him about our plans - so who knows??
