Speaking of myspace...

I recently became addicted to it...So my question is: Do you accept "friend requests" from people you know, from total strangers or both?

Well so far, I have only been getting guy requests and most of them look "questionable"...meaning weird. Like when I visit their page to see their friends there are like pictures of half naked ladies...that's okay once in a while but to have like 95% of your friends look like their are strippers is "questionable" to me. It's obvious why they are on myspace.

Anway, I'm totally new to this and having so much fun. Hope to become friends with some curly girls here:

I only accept friend requests from people that I know in real life. I'm somewhat paranoid about accepting them from those that I don't know.

It's okay to have a few but there was like this one guy that had ONLY naked lady friends, like 100%. That was it. I just feel weird accepting him as my friend. A guy is gonna be a guy but he just seemed too sleezy for me.

I add people I don't know if it's for networking purposes, like writing. Or people from NC.com.

Other than that, pretty much just people I know.

I only add people who write to me so I know why they're adding me, or bands if I like their music. I do a lot of networking on there, so I have more so-called friends. It should be my associates' list, not friends.

I just wanted to note that this is the first thread I've seen with a phantom poll!

Yeah, I noticed that too. What happened was that I posted this without a poll then went back to edit it with a poll and it came out all weird.

When I first got a page, I added anyone who asked (stupid!) but now I do not. I definitely wouldn't add some guy with mostly half-naked pics of women on his page.

Like someone else wrote, if I like their music or if they write to me and they're interesting, ok, but otherwise I just add people who I know or know of. In fact, there are some people I should go back and delete...

What I don't understand is why I get the occasional friend request from strangers who are straight women. No message, I'm sure I've never met them before, not even from here... why does that happen?

Same here... it bugs me when random people request to add me as a friend, but then don't at least send me a message letting me know who they are or anything else.

There is one guy on my list, though, who requested me as a friend as soon as I edited my profile. He found me through my writing network, so I added him. He has a ton of people on his friends list, so I thought most of them were part of some writing community. Wrong. I think he just adds people to promote his own writing/Web site, rather than taking a genuine interest in trading/sharing work with others. I'm annoyed by that, so he's getting deleted.
