This is the one I have. There are newer, fancier models but I don't know if they do anything this one can't. I've had it for probably 10 years -- originally got it at Costco, I think.

This one is about the same price and has a head with a longer, angled brush, which many people prefer. I actually put these brush heads on my old brush, they do fit.

I have the 2nd one...which I'm guessing is the exact same as the first one, but with a different brush head. It's what my dentist has in his office (he also has a more expensive model that beeps ever 30 seconds to let you know to brush the next quadrant).

Unfortunately when they started making higher end models, they took this out of the lower end ones. The two you posted no longer do (Amazon reviews).

They have them at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and you can use your 20% coupon. Or just order from Amazon. It might be worth a call to your dentist to see if they sell them as well. Some sell them at full price, so that's not worth it, but others sell them at cost - which saved me some $$.

Plus either a warm salt water rinse or listerine.

I, personally, use an electric toothbrush & I brush with a paste of baking soda & peroxide. I brush 3xs per day & floss 2xs per day. I also use listerine 2xs per day.
What does the warm salt water rinse do? Dehydrate the mouth to kill bacteria?

Is it actually just as good as Listerine and other oral rinses?
The salt temporarly alkalinizes the mouth, which is the opposite environment bacteria likes to live in. The salt also helps your injured gums heal.

If you have Aetna insurance, they offer a discount on Sonicares through their member website.

Mine doesn't, which is kind of a bummer. My mom bought it for me and thought she was getting one that did. It was the cheapest one at Target, so I guess that was the giveaway.

Highly recommend getting one that beeps. My first one did and I liked that feature.

Is there a sonicare model that's best? I looked at BB&B and Walmart, and there's the whitening model and the plaque removal one. Does it matter...if I just want generally cleaner teeth?

Walmart had them for 70 bucks, which is nuts for a TB but not bad compared to other prices I'm seeing/reading about.

Amazon has a special right now. If you order $140 worth of Phillips items, you get a $40 Amazon promo code for a future purchase. I just ordered a Sonicare Flexcare with sanitizer (on sale for $127) and a replacement pack of brush heads ($24). The Flexcare without the sanitizer was only $2 cheaper. I imagine there are better deals out there, but I need a new Sonicare (I have the discontinued Intellicare that Gekko mentioned) and this required no work on my part.

Bed Bath & Beyond seems to have some kind of rebate special on Sonicare at the moment -- plus, you can use your 20% off coupon.
