A recent study found that smoking marijuana does not increase lung cancer risk.

Ok...that evidence is convincing, but I don't trust it. They need to do more research before I'm convinced. Maybe the strength of the marijuana has gotten more potent over the years like cigarettes have. I know men who have smoked basically all their lives and they're in their mid 80's now. I think the cigarettes back in the day weren't as harmful as they are today. Although there are no links to smoking marijuana and lung cancer, I still don't want tar in my lungs, memory loss, my hearing impaired or bronchitis! ...and what about the ozone layer? Isn't bad for the ozone?...I just don't really find a need for people to smoke this stuff at all. I heard people smoke it because it relieves stress, but aren't there other alternatives?

I know people who only smoked cigarettes back in the day, and are very, very ill now. Someone (this is recently) was just diagnosed with lung cancer, but she stopped smoking YEARS ago. My aunt, who also stopped smoking cigs years ago too, has had emphysema since long before I was born. It's all in the luck of the draw. Some people will get very sick, some won't, some won't show signs until much, much later. I'm sure it's the same with drugs, marijuana and alcohol included.
I don't smoke any of the above, nor do I drink much at all. I don't see the appeal in it, so I'm not doing this to defend myself. Friends that do smoke, both cigarettes and marijuana, often do it for the buzz and the high, not just to relieve stress. Some use them as social currency.

Same here. My friends went to the concert, they lit up marijuana and nobody bothered them. One friend tried to light a cigarette and security was all over him. twice.

Then don't smoke it! I mean this in a completely 100% snark-free way. And I understand how cigarette smoke and marijuana smoke would be bad for the ozone, but I seriously doubt it makes that big of an impact, compared to cars, factories, burning large areas, etc.
It's not really a need to smoke, either. It's really just for fun.
I guess a bad thing about legalizing marijuana would be the taxes...it would make prices go up!
Edited for code problems.

Re: legalizing marijuana??
Ahem...*switching to my Sean Paul voice*
"Legalize It_____ Time to Recognize It_____"
Seriously, I don't smoke the wacky weed but everytime I listen to sexy Sean Paul's "We Be Burnin'" I want to light up something!

I think it's ridiculous that this country has legalized alcohol, but pot is illegal. I could give a dozen reasons why people would be better off smoking weed than drinking.

I think both are bad, and I personally am much more of a loser when high than drunk. I can operate a car much better drunk than high (yeah, I'm not proud that I know that, either).
I'm saying no for now, because I honestly feel like this would mean that even more non-sober people will be on the roads and out and about. I feel like the legal restrictions against pot use do curb some of the pot-influenced driving that could happen. I can't stand potheads, or just regular folk who are high. Stay at home and out of my way, thanks.
I wish this country had better public transportation. /Ramble

But let's say I smokes a bit o weed. HYPOTHETICALLY , worst case scenario, I couldn't pick out a DVD to watch from a choice of 4.

Marijuana is way better imo then alcohol and cigs. I voted for legalize for medical and fun......the least they could do is for medical, those patients with prescription marijuana reallly really really need it

I did 2 research papers on the topic and there are soo many benefits of legalizing marijuana, it's too bad that it is unlikely to happen. I know I would love for it to be legal! Think about what a great mood everyone would be in!

Thanks for selling me out, Trenellm. :x
btw - I *completely* agree. My state, in it's infinite wisdom, has just recriminilized pot after 35 years of legal possession of under 4 oz.
If I read it right they managed to lump meth-use and pot-use in the same bill, and they've called it the "methijuana" bill.
Un-freakin'-believabe.
