Poll - which is most important to you?
Please choose only one - assume that the houses are in the "good" school district.
I am just curious - are you more interested in impressing others, or making the best of what you have?

I have no interest whatsoever in impressing anyone.
I chose good neighborhood-good neighbors,diverse,young and old alike,close to the city....hey-I already live there!

None of those are that important to me, but in the theory I'll have kids someday, I said good neighborhood. Like Mar, I'd want diversity. I also just would want somewhere the kids could get a decent education and play outside relatively safely.

I picked "good neighborhood." My apartment is more spacious and newer than my first apartment, but my old one was in a much safer neighborhood. That makes all the difference. I'd rather live in a 50-year-old shoebox apartment in a safe environment than a "luxury" apartment in a crime-infested area. I'm trying to find a good area with inexpensive rates, but in this city that is hard to come by. I grew up in an area with one of the lowest crime rates in the country, and though it's not exactly luxurious, it's safe, quiet, and the people are friendly. Relatively inexpensive, too. The downfall is lack of jobs.
Anyway, I don't aim to impress anyone. I'll admit I am looking forward to getting a new car. I don't care for flashy little convertibles, though. I'll be getting another Buick. That tells you how much I care about looks when it comes to cars, though, I think the Lucerne is very stylish. Value, reliability, and reputation are tops - I'm definitely not getting it to impress all the single men!

Peace of mind and good health trumps them all. Without these, the others don't matter.
When you say a "good neighborhood" I'm not sure what you mean. If by that you mean a safe one, then I'd have to chose that as my first choice.
House: House size is a matter of practicality. Too big and it's too cold plus there's a lot of cleaning and maintanence.
Too small and you get cabin fever and become a packrat. It's helpful to have enough space that you can have privacy when needed, and have ample room for personal belongings and to put up the occassional guest/s.
"Impressive" anything doesn't compute. Again, unless it's impressively good health or impressively good peace of mind (or something like that), who cares. And luxuries are nice but not needed. Probably revealed my gender with this answer ...

I chose a good neighborhood. I never wanted a big house, and I don't care what kind of car I drive as long as it functions properly and gets decent gas mileage. You'd know exactly what I mean if you saw the car I have now.
People are more important than material possessions. Even if you HAD the big house and impressive car, chances are better that you'd have no real friends in your neighborhood because they'd all resent you for being such an ostentatious prick.

I chose Good Neighbor. We live in a nice, safe neighborhood. We have some very nice neighbors - but some are also snobby & petty. I wish everyone would just be nice & play nice.....

I think the good neighborhood is the most important. You could have the biggest, most beautiful house; but if you have the neighbors from he**, it wouldn't be worth it to me.

What's the point of having a grand house, if you don't feel safe in it? What's the point of having a kick-ass car, if someone is going to break into or possibly steal it?
My choice is to live in a good neighborhood. Our safety is much more important than any of our posessions.

I couldn't vote since none of them really applied to me.
A huge house doesn't appeal to me. I've had fairly big ones and they just made for more work.
I have a great house in what most people would consider a 'bad' neighborhood.
I've had many impressive vehicles but I don't care if my car impresses anyone or not. It's just my hobby.

I chose good neighborhood without a doubt. A big house I would just have to spend more time cleaning, an impressive car is not my style. Actually, I love my car. It was my grandmother's and I am keeping it for as long as I can. I always feel like Gramma is riding with me.  DH and I purchased it from my dad after she passed away. She hated riding in my dad's truck, so, even though she couldn't drive she wanted to ride in style. She chose a Maxima.

Hmmm...5 votes for big house but no comments from the voters...
I am pretty much online with the current voting status. I would like a slightly (like maybe 1 extra room and slightly larger bedroom for daughter) bigger house, but not a monster. I would rather have a modest car - preferably paid in full.
