Talking

This thread is hilarious! And since it will be in NC.com history, I just had to post. I probably peed in the pool as a tiny child, but we were taught since very young not to pee in the pool, starting with the neighbor's.

This thread reminds me why I don't often swim in public pools, and why I never put my head in the water. I *say* it's because of the chlorine damage to my hair, but it's the general YUCK factor that prevents me from getting my face or hair wet.

When my son takes lessons, he now wears goggles because his eyes burns so badly, and I'm glad for that. Keeps the yuck out. But the thought of him getting mouthfuls of stuff grosses me out.

My son is a brass man (First Trumpet) and always uses a spit rag. He thought it was gross when his uncle said most brass players let it loose on the floor. Besides, when you start out playing in HS gyms, you can't spit on the floor.

Ohmygoodness I love this fun fun thread!

I have probably peed in a pool at one time or another, and probably in a shower or two. I have for sure peed in lakes, rivers, oceans, creeks. I have never peed in a bathtub, or hot tub.

And if I ever get stung by a jellyfish again I expect one of you to step up to the plate and pee on me! : )

Yeah, I was going to add this at some point: I would welcome urination in this particular scenario. But I would also hope to have it be someone I actually know.

You'll have to look the other way and plugged up your ears if it's me. I have a very shy bladder.

Don't knock it till you tried it! LOL

Oh, and for the record, I pee in toilets only. If there is no toilet available in the wilderness I will find a nice, secluded area, let it go, and cover it up like some animals do.
Too funny!

I'm potty-trained! I use the toilet. I didn't know there was such a subculture of (adults) who pee in the pool. I find out the most interesting things here.

But I think it's harmless really. It's nothing to get worked up about. Right?

As soon as my daughter sat in her tub for her bath, the water went yellow. She's three. I drained the tub and scrubbed and rinsed her standing up. I also thought of this thread.

Oh my, I have been so entertained reading this thread. It's also helped me stay light-hearted about potty training my two-year-old. (see the P&P board for details.)

I don't go swimming often, but I don't recall ever peeing in a pool. However, I do admit to peeing in the shower. I could scarcely do that until I lived in Uganda, and my homestay mama gave my husband and me lots of juice and beverages with supper, and I just had to. The latrine was out in the backyard, and you had to have a flashlight, and the doors were customarily locked at nightfall and I would have had to ask for the key. So peeing while I took a bucket bath was the alternative, and that was OK. I figure the water and soap washed it all away.

Reading through this thread, I almost feel as if there's a factor here that has not been taken into account (and if it has, please excuse me)... Pool bathrooms.

They're disgusting!

Sometimes, I'd rather pee in the pool than venture into a bathroom with an inch of water on the floor, toilet paper strewn all over the place (soggy, of course), and other unidentifiable substances smeared throughout.
I don't. But it's tempting.

Good luck! Remember, if you can't make it, you can PEE ANYWHERE. It's not like we're trying to have a civilization or anything here.
Thank you wild~hair for that excellent advice . You all will be glad to hear I mostly made it. It helped me immensely that some people had considerately placed some toilets in their backyards on the way.

That was for those of you wondering what that warm spot in your pool is this summer.

You're welcome.

funny! no one ever answered my question about urinating in their own bath water. i don't know how to take that.

maybe the pool peers do pee in their bath water, as long as it's clear urine ...

I know kids pee in pools, that's why I prefer to not go swimming in public pools. It is totally shocking to me that a fully functional adult would choose to pee in a pool that other people use rather than get out and use a toilet.
Yea this really surprised me. That being said, I went to the pool Sunday..I tried not to think about anything! Especially when I saw a dude with a drink in his hand at the pool and everyone else drinking and eating near the pool.

Alright...sometimes I do pee in the bathwater, if it's at the end of my bath and I've already washed my face and hair.

Yeah, can't get enough of that repetitive, droning cyber-scolding.

Awww, I knew I could count on you.

And Spleckla, if you arrive at the scene first I promise to plug my ears and go lalalala so your bladder doesn't think I'm listening.

One of the local lakes here (the largest natural lake in Pennsylvania I must brag for no reason at all) has a large sand bar. So on a hot summer day there will be dozens of boats anchored there and everyone is standing about waist deep in the water on the sand talking and laughing and listening to music, and drinking a lot. And no one ever gets out of the water. So yes, there is a lot of peeing going on there. You can be standing talking to someone and just know that they are probably peeing on you. Hey, if there's ever a jellyfish attack, we are safe. : )
