Weird. My foundation certainly isn't sparkly.

I like BE and it's one of the few brands I don't have to mix colors to get the right shade. I used to use aromaleigh but although a great product I couldn't get the perfect match.
I am going to try a sample of the Everyday Minerals when I'm done with my BE just for curiosity's sake. I'm not a big brand loyalist - as long as I can get a perfect match and the stuff feels good I buy it. I've mentioned this a million times but lately I've been putting a dollop of sunscreen on my finger and dipping that into the minerals then smoothing over my face. I can even skip the MV when I do this.
Also, I think mazey mentioned this a while back and it made a very marked difference in my own results - be sure to buff for a full 2 minutes. By the time you're done buffing the makeup isn't just sitting on your skin ,it's completely blended.

Another plug for Everyday Minerals. Love the finishing powder. Reasonably priced. Looking at the ingredients in BE, I can't justify spending the $....
I've tried several different brushes, & buffing really irritates my skin. I use my fingers.

I wonder if I'm thinking of another mineral foundation.

I just ordered samples of the Everyday Minerals. They were free; shipping isn't. But it's only $3.37 or something like that.
We shall see.

Just like when the recipe calls for you to beat the cake batter for two minutes - they really mean it!

I got my sample of Everyday Minerals this weekend, and I've worn it twice. I like it, but it plays hell with my contacts! Geez!
Also, my skintone is not "medium" but that's the shade that works for me - the two lighter shades are just too light, which is odd. Although it is summer and I do get some sun just by walking around in the south Texas sun.
The blush I got is GORGEOUS, and I hate blush, normally. But this just looks great on me, if I do say so myself. It's called Chitchat.
I got the Medium foundation in semi-matte, which I don't like. If I decide to order a regular size, I'll order the matte finish.
I'm just using my regular makeup brushes and they're working fine. But you do really have to buff the foundation into your skin, rather than just applying it like you would a regular loose powder.
I'll probably order the foundation and the finishing powder.
Anyone else get free samples or anything?

Hey! Did you get the samples for free then? I'll have to read back over this thread, but was there a link for that here... Hmmm.. I forgot!

PH thanks for reporting back. Love to hear your review. I actually ordered a kit and some free samples. I really love the BE foundation but have never had luck with their shadows/blushes/lipsticks and my skintone so I was excited to see some options on EM's site. I also gave their foundation a try since she mentioned on the site that some colors were just like BE (i.e. my shade medium tan = 5.2) I also bought an amazing brush on ebay. I've always used a retractable squirrel powder blush from sephora but wanted something bigger (to make application quicker) and softer so I got a smashbox #19 brush for half the price on ebay brand new.
From EM some of the eyeshadows are supposed to work as lip colors too so I'm looking forward to that as well (when I used to use aromaleigh I'd dip my lipbalm in the blush and then swipe on my lips to make a nice shade of lipstick). I've also been exploring my old haunts on delphi forums and discoverd the MMM site and another ton of companies. May venture in a couple of months to try some shadows from M.A.D. Minerals but for now just want to hold off to see how the EM do. I also discovered a new method to get a longer lasting, slightly better coverage from that site (delphi). Just swirl the brush in your minerals, spritz with a bit of water (any 'ol spritz bottle) and buff on your face until the brush is dry. People have mentioned flawless coverage and long lasting makeup so I'm going to give this a try too.

I just keep swirling the makeup brush over my face, all over, using a bit of pressure. It really helps with the coverage level, and it seems to make the coverage more consistent (and it lasts longer).

If you use a brand that doesn't have bismuth oxychloride in it, you don't have to buff like you do with BE. You also don't get the BE sheen.
Medussa, buffing is just using a kabuki brush and brushing your face in a circular motion. Like buffing your car after waxing.

medussa - it's when you hold the brush like this ( http://www.everydayminerals.com/appl...ndation-1.html) and then swirl it around your face in a circular motion. I don't know exactly how it makes a difference but it does.

That's what I find with the Physician's Formula brand. Hardly any buffing necessary and no sheen - for the whole day.

see I've found the buffing method helpful even with the non bismuth stuff (any makeup or powder). I find it #1 really blends the makeup and #2 makes for a more believable coverage when nothing just sits on the face. Even more important though I've found is the brush shape. I've gotten the best coverage with dense almost bronzer shaped brushes. Even when I used the retractable brush I mentioned earlier I'd only retract it halfway making it like a short dense bronzer brush.
I know people like super soft brushes on makeupalley but I've found that nonscratchy but firm brushes give the best coverage with minerals.

I agree with you about the brushes. A soft, fluffy brush only seems to emphasize my large pores.
