I have a coworker who is leaving in two weeks and I'd like to get her a going away gift. When you've left a job, did anyone give you a parting gift? We are friendly and have always had lunch a few days a week. I will miss her.

She's a young mother of three and is leaving to concentrate on her college courses.

If you had lunch that often, definitely a card saying you'll miss her, and maybe a giftcard to a coffee shop near campus, or some little ' pamper herself ' item you think she'd like.

We will be taking her to lunch on her last day. Now that I think about it, she's a Starbucks nut so maybe I'll get her a giftcard to Starbucks. She and I have promised to keep in touch by meeting now and then at Starbucks (near the campus and near my employer) for afternoon coffee.

What we usually did was getting one of those chocolate gift baskets and customized them to the likes of the person. So far every person liked it when they got one.

when i was leaving my job at the research lab years ago, my department chipped in and i got a $100 gift card to The Bay (Cdn version of JC Penney) - best gift EVER!
