(rant) does your have the pleasing smell of shampoo?

@layali, i'm sure because your products are targeting loosely curled hair.

yes, i do. qhemet and oyin products smell very good. i have no complaints. i just feel like the products that i do use all kind of smell the same, cocoa-chocolately-shea-buttery.

when you buy products for oily hair each and every product smells different. you can then choose which company you like best by how it reacts with your hair and the scent.
imagine then that you have dry hair and all the products you choose smell the same. they all smell the same!!!!!! i don't want to smell like cocoa anymore!!!!!! i'm tired of cocoa, i'm tired of shea, i'm tired of the same frigging scent in every damn product!!!!!

I seem to have a different problem than most of the people who have posted. Not only do I despise 'smelly things' (I have an EXTREMELY sensitive sniffer), but I also am allergic to just about everything. I am currently using AOHR because it is the best conditioner I have found for a reasonable price, and the side-effects only include a bit of eye watering, but man do I hate that stink! For a while I used completely fragrance-free items (365 brand), but the conditioner was just too weak to cut it. I now use it as a co-wash and leave-in.

Interestingly enough, for the period of time that I was fragrance-free (and this includes deodorant, hand lotion, laundry detergent, everything) my bf thought I smelled absolutely delectable. Not that I smelled strongly, but whenever he got close enough to give me a hug, he would kind of take a deep breath. The lesson? -sometimes just smelling like pure, clean you is the most attractive thing!
I normally don't smell my hair. I don't know if it's because the products don't have a strong scent, or if I'm just used to them. The only thing I smell anymore is No Poo- and that could be because I only use it once or twice a week.

Sometimes if I'm trying a new conditioner I'll smell it all day long.

I have no idea if other people smell it or not. And I don't smell other people's hair often at all- but I do get a bit jealous when someone walks by with that fabulously clean smell.

There are definitely products targeted at "black hair" that smell really great (Curls, Curl Junkie, etc)... I'm going to have a look through the thread first so I don't say anything too redundant.

hehe at the fake shea butter scent. if a product had a real shea butter scent you would gag at it, because it has a rancid odor.

cocoa butter....i'd wear anytime! i love my hair smell goods, but i find the cheaper the product the more horrible the smell, and that goes for WHOEVER it's targeted at.

like curl junkie...those scents smell so yummy i know they can't be cheap. now if i went to the bss around the corner and took a whiff of dax, my nose hairs would be singed.

I have to agree with you, Frau. My hair doesn't have that shampoo-clean smell either. Usually it doesn't smell like anything (unless I've used henna or ACV). I sometimes spray in some Carol's Daughter Black Vanilla Leave-In Conditioner after styling. Doesn't condition worth jack but I've gotten compliments on the smell.

Don't know if it's been mentioned (didn't read every post) but Ohm's Sweet Hair Pudding has a great strawberry scent. It's still a food smell but better than the tiring coconut smell. Plus strawberry scents really compliment my natural body odor.

I admit that I miss the smell of shampoo A LOT. Nothing is like the smell of Pantene or Aussie

While as a 3c I've found many nice smelling products, I miss the days when I used to shop by smell and not by formula. I remember being little and fighting my sister on whether we were going to buy the watermelon l'oreal two-in-one or the strawberry.
